Pvm Kill Timer Competition

02 September 2014 - 08:46 AM

Hi all!

The achievements team have been in recent discussion about hosting a new competition based around the recent boss timer addition to the game. Basically there is now an interface which keeps a track of the quickest time in which you've defeated certain bosses within the game. To go with this we've decided on hosting a PvM competition this time around alongside the usual AOTM & possible ASC in the near future that we always host here in Achievements.

The idea of the competition is basically that you the users will be given a time frame in which you are to gain these times, screenshot them with your display name and a time stamp clearly labelled on them to us, we then compile all submissions and put them up against each other and we name a winner.

This topic is to not only grasp an idea of how many of you are actually interested but also for those who are interested to vote up their favorite bosses in which they think they might have the best chance at defeating. We'd like to single it out to only a few to keep the focus on a smaller amount of bosses to keep things more competitive and close cooped.

If you are interested please give your opinions on what you think of the competitions, possible improvements or additions, and also please vote in the poll above.

****I will make an important note that you must be instanced for a time to register (in regular mode) in game, to give you can idea of where this interface and information can be found, please refer to the image below.

RuneScape Community brings you
Member of the Month

This competition is for the community to decide who they feel has been the best overall member over the past month. The best part of this competition is the community has a chance to choose who will be Motm, as compared to the older competition, where it was solely decided by staff members. To become member of the month, you must show a sense of dedication, and post well throughout the boards. You must also be nominated by a member.

Nomination process

In order to be eligible to nominate a person, you must be a member or above. This means, that you must have at least 50 posts. This is to ensure that no one attempts to cheat and register multiple accounts as junior members just to get their names on the list.

In order to be eligible for nomination, you must be a member. This excludes junior members and senior members*. This is for the purpose of a member gaining some recognition in the community for their successes in posting.
*Note: If a senior member was a member for at least 90% of the month (Take date they were promoted, divide by number of days in the month, multiply by 100 to find percent) in which the competition is for, they may be eligible for nomination.

To nominate a person all you have to do is PM Sector Six. You must label the PM as "Nomination for MotM". This will make it much easier for me to tally up nominations after I receive them all. You can nominate up to two (2) people, no more. You also may not nominate yourself**. If you do, your nomination will be void, and you will be disqualified from the competition. Also, you must not publicly display who you nominated. This is supposed to be a surprise for everyone who was nominated! Just simply PM me the name(s), and that should be all.
**Note: If you are caught asking others to vote for you, or you are bribing others to vote for you, etc., you will be disqualified from the competition. If you truly deserve the recognition from this competition, you will be nominated.

Voting Process

Following the nomination process, the staff will vote on the members nominated on who they believe is the best candidate for this award. After the voting process, the winner's name will be posted in the RuneScape Community News section of the community.

Best of luck to everyone! You can start sending me your nominations at this time. :-)

Freemasonry

19 March 2014 - 05:08 AM

For those unaware of what 'Freemasonry' is, it is an international fraternity. Although there is no exact leading organization, each lodge is usually independent of any other. To my knowledge most lodges have similar policies and rulings which they conduct their business under. I've only ever read up on any of the information I have on the fraternity and have turned to posting a topic on here to either get more of an insight into the topic or even see if there's anyone involved in the fraternity who posts on this site who could enlighten me a little more.

I am aware of many lodges in my surrounding areas alongside viewing the local freemasonry website to my state and reading up on most things I found interesting. Thing is I've never once spoken to someone who has called themselves a freemason, there's only so much you can learn from YouTube videos and the internet, half of which I am usually skeptical of its legitimacy. I have however had an eye for the symbol and seen it on countless car stickers,, buildings and even seen a few people wearing rings and jewelry as such but never had the motivation to strike up a conversation with someone I don't even know about it.

Anyone around here have family, friends, or are personally involved in the fraternity?
