#17134990 Divine Kings vs CT ft burying Jaja

Posted by The duck on 11 June 2017 - 06:50 AM

is it really DK vs Jaja when you pm your whole friends list to come and join in lol

If all your friend list are DK, yes
that's a picture taken by Derek and he only has DK members added (or people that want to join).

So..he only has DK members added or people who want to join.. but you're an open CC so basically anyone can potentially join in whenever they want?? :#

#17134241 Gay pride event?

Posted by The duck on 08 June 2017 - 08:48 AM

I'm not religious, but I don't get upset at Jagex for releasing events that religious people would enjoy.

Ah hm yes truely what a shame only Christian children get presents under the Tree from Santa and can search for eggs in their parents' garden for Easter

I don't recall any religious holiday in RS either unless the mere mention of the name of Christmas or Easter is already too much an association for you, I certainly don't recall the rest of the RS holiday content in my Bible

#17134051 Gay pride event?

Posted by The duck on 07 June 2017 - 09:01 AM

Anyway, the point I made is that being able to create offspring doesn't determine whether a certain sexuality is useful or not. It's evidently useful in the animal kingdom, there's no reason to believe it wouldn't be useful amongst humans. We're not really that different.

This is getting quite off-topic and I believe some people will call me a hypocrite for citing the following source, but I think Darwin and his theory of Natural Selection would disagree with your claims regarding the animal kingdom.

Anyway, I agree with Manga in that if there would have been some sort of charity action for helping those in need (which is still happening in many countries) there would have a more positive sound to this action. In its current form it is quite sloppy really and especially given the moderator his background.

Note: there is also an argument saying that Jagex can do whatever they want with their game since it is their game, but most people don't want to remember that during other controversial updates (Wilderness Removal, EOC, Zulrah Nerf, etc.)

E: small edit: there is a huge difference between not wanting to support such an agenda in a fantasy game and actively opposing Jagex in-game like an idiot and getting banned.

#17134041 Gay pride event?

Not everyone's goal is to have biological children, or raising children with biological parents, nor is monogamy essential to achieve any of that. I'm not sure how this is an argument against homosexuality either, but if it was, has the goal of a sexual relationship been reduced to producing children? "I'm just using you to have children" seems incredibly romantic and I'm pretty sure that will not result in a second date with the average person. It's also fine if people think that kids being raised by biological parents is very important, but I don't see anyone throwing stones at divorced parents, or insulting them for holding hands with a new partner (in the Western world at least, it sadly does happen in extremely conservative and religious countries). Homosexuals are actually less likely to divorce than heterosexuals, are generally higher educated and wealthier. So if someone really thinks the well-being of a child is the most important factor, they're barking up the wrong tree.

Uh, I'm not sure how you suddenly started off on such a tangent but here's a couple of resources for you

On monogamy/polygamy:

This is not even the focus of this topic but if you cannot imagine the meaningfullness of a stable family for a child then well..let's just stop right there.

As for your parents comparison:

You can have an opinion, but there's plenty of evidence suggesting it is not a fact.

If we're going to bring in biological facts, there's no reason to think homosexuality isn't useful just because it can't produce offspring through a biological way together. Homosexuality and bisexuality are very common amongst animals as well, and sometimes they do raise offspring. In fact, homosexual black swans are even better at raising their chicks to adulthood than heterosexual pairs. Male elephants often bond with other males and engage in sexual activity with each other, not without reason. Love and affection can be given by all genders, there's no factual biological reason to limit it to only one gender.

Some species of animals also engage in polygamory, rape and the killing of children to win over a mate. Please don't compare animal insticts to human conscience and knowledge.

All in all, why are people getting mad? It's simple: it doesn't fit the game. Yes, Jagex did events such as the WWF or Autism Awareness week and such but those events were in essence for charity and to help a common cause. This event, in contrast, clearly does not . Whether this is about gender or sex or both, it is normally something that should be kept private either way. However, promoting it by means of pride etc. is purely political in nature since it's an organized thing usually hosted by a city or even used by a political candidate for support. Its goal is purely to influence you. Now, that's not too bad in real life, I mean you got freedom of speech and all and you can spend as many marketing dollars as you want. But in a fantasy MMO, it's purely a personal agenda which the players don't care for apparently.

Think about RuneScape, the game this wonderful JMOD is working for. In the game, there's no references of (sexual) relationships at all, or rather barely. We know the character marries a prince of princess in a quest, there's some romantic feelings for a cave goblin and in RS3 there's a couple of races that hold different views than ours. But never are you confronted with these things at all. A fantasy children's game should not be the place to fight for social justice. It seems the JMOD either did it purely out of self-interest or to get more publicity for RS. I personally think they should stick to getting more coverage via actual content such as Inferno.
