When do I have to have my entries in?
You must have your competition entries in by the 1st of the month of the competition. The public voting will happen half way through or closer to the end of the month. So if you want to enter your suggestion for the April Competition, you must have it entered before April 1st. If your suggestion was posted during a Competition month, it will not be approved. This means you cannot enter your suggestion in April, August or December.
What are the criteria?
Your suggestion must follow these rules:
- It must comply with RSC's global rules, and the main Suggestions rules. It must also not be on the "ideas to avoid" list.
- Between the Suggestions main board, the Hall of Fame and the Competition, one suggestion gets one thread. This means you cannot have a thread in the Competition board along with a copy of it in the main board. If you would like to enter an existing suggestion into the Competition, PM a Community Leader (CL) of the Competition board to move it there.
- All suggestions must be over 1000 characters and 200 words in length (images, link text, headers, etcetera, excluded).
- Do not use custom mark-up like bold, italics and colour for the main suggestion content. This makes it extremely difficult to read. Such suggestions will simply not be accepted. Note that you are allowed to use formatting for emphasis and layout.
- They should made to the best of your ability and must be easy to understand, be as clear as possible. Whatever ways you can get your message across, use it; pictures, diagrams, short movie clips, detailed explanations - it's all up to you.
- To be valid for entry, suggestions should be original and should provide significant new or changed content.
- Old suggestions may be entered into the Competition, so long as they are not currently in the Hall of Fame or mentioned in the Competition Winner Archive.
- At any given time, you may have only one suggestion in the Competition board. You may withdraw your current suggestion and enter another into the competition, up until two weeks before the first day of the next competition month.
How do I enter?
If your suggestion exists in the main Suggestions board, PM one of the Competition leaders (Bulgy/Hail/Dan/Dark) to move it to the Competition board. If it hasn't been posted in the main Suggestions board, you can post it here directly. Initially your post will be invisible; only competition leaders and moderators will be able to see it. If your suggestion follows the rules and lives up to the standard, it will be approved shortly (if it hasn't, PM one of the aforementioned leaders).
Who decides who wins?
The Suggestions CLs, Senior Members and above will nominate the top three during the first half or so of the competition month. Then, a poll is made for everyone to vote for the best from those three. The public voting will typically close at the end of the competition month.
What is the prize?
The winner will receive four months of the Exclusive Member rank, while the two runner-ups will each receive four weeks. Also, your suggestion will go forward for voting into the Hall of Fame, a decision which will be made by the Runescape Community staff. Additionally, your name and your suggestion's title will be added to the Winner Archive sticky.
