Another Note: A pure .WMV file can NOT be keylogged, so don’t worry about .WMV. Just worry about .EXE.

1.0: {Introduction}
Recently, there have been people posing as famous Player Killers (PK-ers) or just plain normal “new accounted” players trying to spread around a video of their kills, in which the video is actually a .exe file that contains a keylogger. Well, people are normally tricked into downloading these videos because they are normally titled “.wmv.exe” at the end of the file. Now, let me explain to you the difference between .wmv and .exe
2.0: {The Difference}
.WMV: Windows Media Video (WMV) is a type of file that allows you to watch a specific video of some sort. Any file you download with .WMV at the end of the URL will always be directed towards Windows Media Player or any other Video playing instrument.
.EXE: Executable (.EXE) is a type of program that is able to be opened, installed and deleted off of the face of you’re computer. .EXE is a program type software that normally can damage or benefit you’re computer in some sort of way.
3.0: 3.0: {How To Tell The Difference Before Downloading}
There is one simple solution in checking that the file you are indeed downloading is a .WMV file. Before downloading a video, MAKE SURE TO READ THE URL.
Here is the difference in links.
.WMV

Do you see the “.WMV” at the end of the URL. That is EXACTLY what you are looking for, if you don’t see that at the end of the URL. Do NOT download the link unless if you are attempting to download something other then a PK video.
.EXE

The following link being provided is a .EXE file, as explained before a .EXE file is a program of any sort. If you are attempting to download a PK video and .exe is what you see at the end of the URL, by all means. DO NOT download the following link.
4.0: {How They Trick You}
In any scammers/hackers game of dishonesty. They use the most obvious trick of all. Trickery. We as a community have grown wise to their tricks, most of us all ready check the files we are downloading to see if their legit or not. Well, some people notice it whiles others don’t – and this is what tricks you into downloading ones video.

Notice that this program is saved as 2 files, which is impossible. The files name is originally Runescape.wmv, however, the file itself is actually saved as a .EXE file. NEVER trust any suspicious looking URL’s.
Red: .EXE (highlighted in red) is the ACTUAL file. The file is saved as a .EXE program. Therefore containing a possible keylogger or malicious software.
Blue: .WMV (highlighted in blue) is the files NAME. It is NOT the type of program, it’s just the NAME of the file. Somebody actually named the file”Runescape.wmv” instead of just “Runescape”.
5.0: {As a Final Note}
Guys, always be skeptical. The poster might have 2 posts; the guy might have 2000 posts. You never know what the person behind the computer might be up to. So always be weary and ALWAYS check the URL before downloading. Hopefully this guide prevents people from getting hacked, I really hope you’ve learned something from it. Now, it’s time to sit down with some popcorn and watch a couple of good PK videos. Enjoy! This guide is a courtesy of zinx maramee
