Since RoT exploded the RS clan world has gained a fair bit of traction on platforms such as twitter/twitch/reddit, but it hasn't really broken through in the mainstream media (fairly understandably). You don't open up a newspaper and hear about Damage Inc V2 closing or what the chances of VR making a comeback are. That's now changed. In the past few days The New Yorker, one of the most reputable news outlets worldwide, published an article, which was #1 on their most popular list, on the live-streamer Ice Poseidon which discussed Runescape and briefly delved into the clan world, describing "the Reign of Terror" as "the most powerful clan in the game". ( https://www.newyorke...a-live-streamer ).
Whilst this is clearly great exposure for runescape clanning, it poses some immediate questions:
Is this the first of more breakthoughs into the mainstream media?
Will such exposure help to grow the clan world?
Has there ever been a clan that has brought as much exposure to clanning as RoT?
