Food for thought...
maybe they should just ad some 99 tabs in the GE .. 20 minutes. if you have the money
1 skill 99 20 bonds
all skills 99 460 bonds
1 skill 200m xp 7360 bonds
all skills 200m xp 169,280 bonds
Quest Tabs :) sick of all the time running around doing quests. buy an all Complete all Quets tab.. 5,000 bonds
instant kill any boss tabs 300 bonds
sick of mining 50000 ore just to find out you made like 50 gp, try a new max cash tab 525 bonds
maybe some all 3rd age tabs, all armor tabs, all weapons tabs and most of all best tab EVER ...Everything in osrs tabs.. that would save all the time for everyone if they added those, have fun playing all day, and never need to stress nothing :p

Great topic and I must say most of the things I agree with.
But, you have to remember that G.E makes people save time, which makes people able to play the game even more. You don't have to stand at Varrock west bank for 2 hours searching for a valuable item. You go to the G.E and you buy that. Yes, it ****s the economy on the long run, but that's why money sinks need implementation. It is atleast a way to deal with such an inflation, we're currently experiencing on OSRS.
There is more to be done, but this is just one example.

Old school came out because people wanted the old combat system.
Even then it wasn't enough because a lot of people didn't find it reasonable or convenient to start over in the 2007 era of the game. OSRS actually got really big from when ge was introduced. A lot of people switched servers, you had a few streamers come in, not to mention entire clans actually moved over months after ge was introduced.
Although in all honesty, I realize that I'd have probably enjoyed pre-ge osrs more, but I didn't give it much of a chance. The game is the way it is now though and I seriously doubt they'd ever revert the ge.

G.E is brilliant.
"Power is always dangerous, it attracts the worst and corrupts the best, I never asked for power, power is only given to those who are prepared to lower themselves to pick it up"

It took the hustle out of the game. I think I remember crafting early game and competing with your crafting supply's.
Made having high level in the skills very useful.

I don't miss merching bots being the only way to buy items, trying to buy items in bulk on the price guide to get some guy pm you trying to sell you 10 sharks and can't find their way to edgeville. Everyone is maxed these days, people with skills don't have monopolies on item prices, but bots do.
If you care so much about skills having serious uses then play ironman mode

it was nice without it but a pain in the butt with wanting to buy something and had to find that one specific person

I don't mind the GE, honestly the value doing things the hard way is semi intact with the iron-man gameplay, and I don't personally miss spamming text in world 2 forever to get any even remotely obscure item. Bank sales were fun though, like a garage sale in Runescape. I think it does more good, and let's be real spamming "buying 1k sharks 800gp each -manga" was never fun, and not really interacting with the community. Other factors provide community other than buying and selling.

From the time the Grand Exchange came about, it was a terrible idea. They made it not to make it easier to trade, (sure that's what they said...) but to get rid of people running multiple accounts and trading with themselves. Instead of being able to trade freely, you were limited in how "unequal" the trade was, with a value assigned based on what an NPC would pay for it. It meant that party hats and santa hats, the longstanding symbols of wealth and luxury among the richer characters no-longer fluctuated, and the prices of everything in general stayed flat.
But from Jagex's point of view, it was 'effing brilliant. No more people botting on multiple accounts and stockpiling wealth. No more people profiting on free holiday giveaways. (They eventually made holiday items un-tradable too).
As an extra bonus, it was a big middle finger to sites like this one! We had an amazing price guide, and active marketplace forums. Jagex hated fansites, and this was a great way to stick it to them.

It seems fun and interactive trading players but it would get annoying after about 2 days. G.E was definitely needed.
