Hated the trade limit years. Didn't play much during those.

2005-2006 was the absolute golden age and always will be in my humble opinion...Just so many unforgettable memories and feelings

I agree with the OP and their order almost 100%

2006 was the game;s peak with good updates and gamefeel.

end of 2007-2008 was the period where RuneScape was ruined forever and became that game everyone played in middle school as just everyone who says that, 2008 was when they left the game. EOC does not even compare to the amount of permanent damage the game suffered from free-trade and wilderness removal.

2008-2009 and early 2010 were very good years in my opinion, but with the following in mind:

- Grand Exchange facilitated player interaction. Whether you say it ''killed'' player interaction or not, in the end OSRS adopted the system too so go figure.
- Jagex put their best effort in by releasing almost weekly content which was generally enjoyable
- Summoning and skills reworks which made the game a lot more user-friendly
- Rise of Youtube and associated RS content - basically a new rise in RS popularity.

In my opinion, 2011 was a very bad year because of the following:

- Massive return of bots and other unpleasant consequences of the return of the free trade
- Rise of a ''no xp waste culture'' which came down to the (ab)use of automated hot keys.
- Return of the ''wilderness'' was obviously an attempt to increase player count and as this didn't succeed other measures were needed (EOC)
- Jagex's first microtransaction idea, the Loyalty Point system. This was only the beginning of the end as we got the Squeal of Fortune the next year.

I'd argue 2014 was a good year too as both communities were flourishing very well.

2001 until around 2013 I would play daily up to 8hours a day. I don't even have access to my account (sly shy guy) anymore. I think.someone hacked in last year.

I loved every year from 2008 - 2012, but the release of EoC destroyed the game for me and I hated it.

Btw I started in 2008.

Jumping into the mainstream clan world in 2007 from ~1.5 years in no-name clans all the way through the end of the BH era was very much fun for me. The CWA era was... meh. And from the reintroduction of the wilderness through late-ish 2011, I as well had very much fun. I wasn't very active after that. The rivalries I found pleasurable.

As disastrous as the removal of the wilderness was, I still found it very much enjoyable and not as disastrous as the CWA era was.

I guess Crest had the last laugh after all. In a fight with Dfall he said something along the lines "How long till you leave 'The' "

It's not blind trust. In order to get the moderator rank, you need to show your loyalty to RSC by working for years as a CL, and you need to prove your trustworthiness in that time. Think of CD staff as a clan in and of itself: who do you think a moderator would be more loyal to, the clan they were in for a few weeks (or literally just joined), or the clan they worked hard in for years? To assume a moderator would throw all his hard work away just to impress his new buddies is absurd.

If you still are concerned, then use a proxy just like you would do if you visited a rival clan's board, but I and the entire admin staff are 100% confident our moderators do not and will not leak IPs.

It was quite big, actually. Soul wars clans originated which would guarantee wins (maximum points) for every game. Sooner or later, these clans would ''crash'' each others world for 24 hours straight :# :#

I personally got sick of Soul Wars after a single game.

That's insane lol, yeah I never got into it. I played it a few times and found it dreadfully boring.

I played from 2003-2012, and honestly took everything as it came. I welcomed new additions to the game. I quit not because of anything Runescape did, but because I was no longer a child and everything sucked. I was never big on pking and my clanning experience was about loyalty to people rather than the game. That said, I did make a communist-penguin graphic when the Grand Exchange and rice controls came out, so I guess I considered that the low point.

Late 2007/Early 2008 with removal of Wilderness.2009 sucked, 2010 sucked, 2011 really sucked, 2012 really sucked, 2013 was LOL...

Until OSRS came. The best year in all honesty, besides 2005/2006 glory days, is 2013.

best years were definitely 2004-2009. In particular 2005-2007 felt the most immersive IMO.

worst years 2012-2014 (EOC, horrible graphic updates, etc.)

OSRS has gave runescape a second wind although personally I haven't played old school in a couple years now. Friends all quit playing essentially back in 2010 which doesn't help despite multiple attempts to get them to just try osrs to no avail
