I looked for guides that would explain this more specifically but I still can't figure it out.

My daily challenge said something like 'steel equipment 210' or something.  Is it asking me to smith 210 steel bars?  Or 210 steel items?  Could I make 210 steel arrow heads or something?  Or a completely different skill?  Also, what does 'turn in' mean?  Do I really need to give some guy the items?

I don't get this.

You have to make 210 steel items, regardless of how many bars they use. I think it has to be a weapon or armour; I had a similar challenge yesterday and arrowheads didn't work. I made helmets because they only used 1 bar. "Turn in" means 210 steel items will be taken from your inventory or bank when you go to the guy in Burthorpe to complete the challenge.

As a side note, any daily challenge that requires you to 'turn in' items will give you a reward bag containing items of a similar overall ge value (They may as well let you keep the items, kinda dumb imo. Maybe they don't want the common daily challenge items to crash as a result ;o )

I'd say it's still worth the trouble. The XP bonus in the end is worth the effort.
