[The duck]

Someone in Questions requested this and I had some free time, so here is a complete list of the items you need to complete your treasure trails and hopefully rack in some neat items. If there is anything special about the particular item, there will be a note. If there is no note, I assume this item is easy to obtain and does not need any explaination.

Melee equipment:

Mithril Plateskirt - medium clue scroll. Decide for yourself if you want to keep it or not.

Adamant 2h sword - hard clue scroll, I personally encounter this one A LOT so keep it.
Rune Full Helm
Rune Platebody
Rune Warhammer - absolutely nobody will ever use this, not even Thor. It is required for hard clue scrolls, so keep it.

Keeping all of these items in your bank can be a bit of difficult, so I'd not bother keeping anything bronze, iron or steel. Perhaps the iron platebody and bronze platelegs since those appear during hard clue scrolls.

Ranged equipment:

Snakeskin boots - snakeskin is sort of difficult to obtain, and since this is a commonly-used item for rangers, might as well keep it.
Snakeskin chaps - snakeskin is sort of difficult to obtain, I believe this item is only required for medium clue scrolls.
Hard Leather body - Grand Exchange
Studded body - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock
Studded Chaps - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock
leather gloves & boots - Although not directly Ranged equipment, this makes it easier to sort all the leather items. Easily obtainable, you can buy both in the Clothes Store near Varrock Square.
Leather Vambraces - not a really frequently-used item, just buy it from Grand Exchange if required.
Leather chaps - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock / Grand Exchange
Leather Cowl - only for easy clue scrolls.
Coif
Longbow
Oak Shortbow - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock
Oak Longbow - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock
Maple Shortbow - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock
Maple Longbow - Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock
Iron Crossbow
Blue dragonhide body, chaps & vambraces - nobody uses Blue Dragonhide, so be sure to keep these items
Green dragonhide body & chaps

Lowe got everything, so don't bother with keeping all of that low-level equipment unless you have way too much free bank space or complete clue scrolls on a daily basis.

All of these items are easy to obtain so I foresee no problems here. I'd store at least all of the diamond jewellery and the uncharged amulet of glory. The rings are probably in your bank already.

Other items:

pointed red and black snelm
round red and black snelm
pointed blue snelm - note for all snelms: I don't think these appear for hard clue scrolls, so if you only complete hard clue scrolls, don't bother.
Splitbark helmet - do keep it ; this item is unused outside of treasure trails and a pain to obtain. Hard clue scrolls only.
Mud pie - annoying item to obtain, keep it. Be sure to turn auto-retaliate OFF, else you'll waste it against the infamous Double Agent.
Iron pickaxe
Steel pickaxe
Bronze hatchet - you can even get a free one from Bob in Lumbridge
Iron hatchet
Rune hatchet - I guess everyone has this in their bank already. Hard clue scrolls only.
Elemental Shield: might want to keep this one
Unenchanted Tiara - easy to obtain
Air Tiara
Blue flowers - I never needed this item myself, but I believe it is from an Easy clue scroll.
Yellow flowers - I never needed this item myself, but I believe it is from an Easy clue scroll.
Wood Camo Top - unusual item, keep if doing lower-level clue scrolls.
Polar Camo Top - unusual item, keep if doing lower-level clue scrolls.
Polar Camo Legs - unusual item, keep if doing lower-level clue scrolls.
Unblessed Silver Sickle - easy to make plus the Grand Exchange should have a few too.
Staff of Air
Fire Battlestaff - required for hard clue scrolls, and since it is kind of ''expensive'' I'd keep it. If not, you can always high alch it afterwards to get your money back.
Unholy symbol
Holy symbol

These items are pretty random, but by no means difficult to obtain. Keep the ones I mentioned to keep and decide the rest for yourself.

Great list! I only keep the items for hard clues in my bank (I rarely do easy/medium so I don't waste the bank space).

I classified a few items to be of a certain level. Unfortunately not all items, as I complete hard clue scrolls more often than easy/medium clue scrolls. But if you know of a certain item to be of a certain class, do let me know so I can edit that in. Like I said, feel free to give a suggestion!

rule of thumb: the more an item is low-leveled, the more likely it is to be required for a lower-leveled clue scrolls.

Thanks a lot! I couldn't find the Adamant sq shield back here, just like I could not find the Rune Pickaxe/Rune Sq shield items anymore. But I recall that Jagex changed the required items a while ago, which led to the introduction of items such as the Mud Pie and the Splitbark Helmet, and the removal of items such as the gnome clothing and the bone spear.

nice :D i have most of the items, if not all, for hard in my bank, the mud pie should always be in the bank and you should have atleast 10, put an offer in bank for more than one since you can accidentally throw it, i suggest classifying it as Ranged equipment since it basically is a thrown weapon.

When Jagex did their "Bring back the wildy" update, that re-enabled pk-ing in the wildy once again, they nerfed a couple of the emote clues on hard treasure trails that require you to go in the wildy.

This meant that different items were now required in some circumstances.

The clue where you have to go to the shop in the wildy bandit camp used to require an addy square shield and a rune pickaxe (as well as blue vambraces).  It now requires an iron square shield and iron pickaxe instead (the blue vams requirement hasn't changed).

The clue where you have to go to the eastern wildy altar used to require rune plate legs (as well as iron plate body and blue vambraces) . It now only requires bronze plate legs (other requirements unchanged).

As for the link provided by Levells: darn, didn't know that page existed. It is sort of ''out-dated'' though, as gnome clothing is no longer required.

Ahh this should help people that don't do clues often. Ive done hundreds of clues, only hards mind you, but I have a tab in my bank specifically for treasure trail items. It is very handy to not have to try to buy a pair of snakeskin boots in the middle of a clue haha.

Just looking at that list makes me feel that I made the right decision of never doing a Clue Scroll.  This should be helpful to those who do complete their clue scrolls.
