People, by nature, do too much; they take too many tasks on, in various aspects of their lives, and try to balance them all and hopefully do a good job on each and every one. Like, taking on a school project, while trying to manage working a few hours after school each day, as well as volunteering in your town, AND managing to keep some form of relationship with all his/her friends and family. Too much for person to really handle and do well with, but somehow we manage; for better or worse.

When it comes to adding another task, such as Runescape [a task, in a sense], especially with its addictive nature, it's another level that can create difficulty. It certainly can be something that isn't all that difficult to manage, a social life, as well as something like Runescape, but it can become unmanageable if taken too far.

How do you manage to put all aspects of your life together and still playing Runescape, and keep some sort of balance? Is it easy, or is it difficult? Is it something that you have to work on and struggle?

"For me it's important to be in balance. To not let fear get in the way of things, to not worry so much about protecting yourself all the time." - John Frusciante

Now I'll be bold,
as well as strong
And use my head
alongside my heart
So take my flesh
And fix my eyes
And tear the night
free from the lies

I play when I have free time. When I don't, I don't.

Is it easy, or is it difficult?

Was difficult because I have ADD and would flip back and forth between essays for class and RS, but now that I've learned to manage myself I just don't play it.

Is it something that you have to work on and struggle?

Was.

I used to have difficulty with it, but I've learned to just log off if I'm bankstanding and not doing anything fun/productive. To me it's mostly a matter of making sure you're doing what you want to do at the time - i.e. not playing the game because you feel you "have to" work on a goal, but by the same token not forcing yourself to do other things if you'd really rather just be playing; both sides within reason of course.

I don't see RuneScape and a social life as separate entities. They're both things you partake in as part of your leisure time, things you do to kick back and relax. It's like separating playing football with your friends and your social life, the two aren't exclusive. The only form of balance that needs to be maintained is between work and play. If you have a lot on at work/school, then your playtime should probably decrease to accommodate for that.

I've never had much of a problem seperating the two. While some people choose to watch TV, I choose to play RuneScape. It's never really became a problem to where I can't recognize my social life to my gaming life. When there's obligations on both sides (I'm a clanner, I see fights as obligations), IRL outweighs it everytime. Otherwise, I don't plan on planning out my days. Whatever occurs, occurs in my mind. I may start one and something may come up but I'll stick with what I started doing first.

I make sure schooling is first. That's my main priority. After that in my free time, since I'm a very anti-social person, I enjoy the time alone I get on Runescape. To achieve my goals, make money, etc.

I've stepped back from gaming because it consumed a lot of my time. I remember I didn't do very well on my exams because I dedicated too much time towards Runescape and Call of Duty. Overtime, it takes time for people to make balance. It differs from person to person because sometimes people are brought up in an environment where organization takes priority, and often this allows them to take on more things at once.

School definitely comes first for me, being a pharmaceutical sciences major does not come easy. Aside from school though, it is pretty easy to just hop on and play whenever I do have the free time to do so.

How do you manage to put all aspects of your life together and still playing Runescape, and keep some sort of balance?
  • I manage to do this by just playing in my free time, as something to make it more interesting, rather then dedicating a specific time that I am "going" to play.
Is it easy, or is it difficult?
  • I actually find it quite easy to balance for me personally now a days. I will say though a few years ago when I was a lot more addicted to the game, as a low level player trying to competing with friends in my neighborhood, it was definitely way harder to balance.
Is it something that you have to work on and struggle?
  • I used to look at it as something I had to work on when I was younger (see above) but no it is not a priority to me anymore, I just play for fun. As for struggling with it, I never really found it a struggle. It just took away a bit of time that I could have spent on better things.
Hope you enjoy my answers. Looking forward to seeing all the opinions on the matter

How do you manage to put all aspects of your life together and still playing Runescape, and keep some sort of balance?

Most of the time, I'm at work or at class so... Well... I kinda have no choice. Work and class comes first. I'm not going to call in sick just to play RuneScape.

When I was much younger, it was very difficult. I was a total RuneScape nerd. I was that girl that would flip out on the "free stuff plz" people.

The good ole days.

How do you manage to put all aspects of your life together and still playing Runescape, and keep some sort of balance?
  • I'm fairly shy and quiet in real life, so I don't exactly have much to balance. All through high school and university though, I never had a problem distinguishing what was important and what wasn't. I always managed to get my work done and then make time for gaming when everything else was sorted out. The last time I held a job, my gaming used to somewhat cut into my sleeping which made working a bit more rough, but like I said earlier it wasn't too great of a problem to make me mess up my daily routine.
Is it easy, or is it difficult?
  • It all depends on the person, but for me it was actually quite easy. I managed to do sports, and keep a high GPA during high school with no problem at all and then carried on into university while maintaining amazing grades.

Is it something that you have to work on and struggle?
  • Not something that I really have to work on. Always had it under control and knew what was important in my life.

I work a lot and I am sure a lot of other people do..so naturally whatever work has comes first. After that it's my girlfriend since I do not have everyday to put towards her although I wish I did. And then I play Runescape. Anything that needs done around the house for the day I split up between RS. I know it sounds bad, but it makes the day go better. I work third shift so my days are annoying..

I balance my Real life and my Runescape life but really only playing in my Spare time, I try to play when i can but only if i have time. Real life with School, Relationships, and Work is a little more Important then a Virtual game. My Character will always be there but not my Real life Duties
