Using Crush attacks on a monster known to be weak against crush attacks. Does that really do a great difference? Especially when using a weapon like an abyssal whip (a slash based weapon), already kills the monster effectively?

Not usually for lower defence monsters. For example, dragons are weak to stab but I wouldn't waste time using a spear for green/blue/red/bronze drags etc as I already hit constantly with whip, whereas those tougher dragons (irons, steels, blacks) the stab bonus really makes a difference to speed of kills.
