[Secret Dragoon]

I have a few days of Membership so I figure I might as well do something new and interesting.
Does anyone know the Drop Rate of a Dragon Full Helm, and the rate of getting them from Pyre Ships?

Or any strategies on killing Mithril Drags?

It is very rare. If your doing this to make money I suggest not to because you may be there for months without a DFH.

Doing this for fun, thinking of Maging with Flames of Zamorak.

I've killed at least 1k between slayer tasks and general killing. I've also lit off around 25 or so pyre ships, so if that says anything about either drop rate.....It's quite rare.

There are two strategies that I use. One is melee and the other is range.

For melee, I protect from mage and wear your favorite melee armor, whether that be bandos or a barrows set, it works well. However, I have 99 defense so if you have less than that I'm not sure how well this strategy would work for you. Alternately you could wear karil's or dragonhide and pray melee.

For ranged or magic, know that the dragon will use different styles depending on where you stand. If you're standing in its' melee range then it will use melee and magic - no ranged attacks. If you're standing a step (or further) back, it will use magic and ranged and will not approach you to melee.

So for ranged, your dragonhide, karil's, or armadyl should give you plenty of magic defense. Pray against either melee or missiles depending on where you're standing.

I would not recommend the use of magic, although if you were to go through with that I would imagine Claws of Guthix or fire surge to be the best spells to use. Robes, though, are terrible for defense so expect to get chewed up.

And of course don't forget your super or extreme sets and your antifire pots.

Yeah 1 in 1500-2000 should be right, but far less rare from pyre ships and I bet you'll get a visage on the way :)

Best method to kill is a stab weapon, as for drop rates it's too low to be worth hunting them for a helm drop.

with ruby bolts (e) and 90+ range + potion you profit from bones/mith bars alone, so yeah.

mage never profits unless you get dfh/vissy in less then 250 kills i guess
