Rune/Zerker Pure Guide

Yes, I have released this guide on Runescape Community once before and took it down because I was stupid and attempted to make a community specifically for Rune/Zerker pures, but failed. So here it is once again, I will for sure update it even more and go beyond what other guides have to offer.

Table of Contents:

1. What is a Rune Pure?
2. Which skills do I need to level up?
3. Which quests do I need to do?
4. I don't have money for 94 Magic.
5. Where should I train Strength?
6. Good places to train Ranged?
7. 'Must Get' Items.
8. Possible Quest Items.

1. What is a Rune/Zerker Pure?

Posted Image

A Rune Pure is an account that has level 40-45 Defense.  Rune Pures believe with the added bonuses from defense, they will dominate everyone in the wilderness.  Some of the bonuses include better armor, better spells, and more things to do in Runescape, than a normal 1 Defense pure could do.

2. Which skills do I need to level up?

I will be posting the skills needed to complete all of the quests below.
If you do not wish to follow my quest guide, simply look up the requirements that are needed for the quest and subtract them from the skill level below.
Yes, boosts are available. I posted a link at the bottom of this guide, search the quest and it will tell you if boosts can be used for that quest.

Agility: 51

Attack: 15 (train by using quests)

Cooking: 70

Crafting: 61

Farming: 25

Fletching: 25

Firemaking: 61

Fishing: 62

Herblore: 45

Hunter: 61

Magic: 66

Mining: 60

Prayer: 30 (train by using quests)

Ranged: 40

Runecrafting: 35

Slayer: 30

Smithing: 54

Strength: 69

Thieving: 53

Woodcutting: 55

3. Which quests do I need to do?

I will first cover the quests that give Attack, Defense, and Prayer since these are the ones that make a difference.
The numbers on the left side of the name of the quest represents the experience rewarded.

Attack
600 - In Search of the Myreque
1,000 - Mountain Daughter
2,000 - A Fairy Tale Part I
2,812 - The Fremennik Trials
2,825 - Heroes Quest
3,000 - Death Plateau
3,000 - Underground Pass
4,825 - Vampire Slayer
11,450 - Tree Gnome Village
12,175 - Fight Arena
13,750 - Waterfall Quest
18,400 - The Grand Tree
-------------------------------------------------
You will be 47 attack with these quests.

Defense
600 - In Search of the Myreque
2,000 - Nature Spirit
2,000 - What Lies Below
2,625 - Heroes Quest
2,812 The Fremennik Trials
10,000 - Defender of Varrock
18,650 - Dragon Slayer
-------------------------------------------------
You will be 40 defense with these quests. Now you can decide if you want 42-45.

For 42 Defense:
5,000 - Between A Rock
Normally train the 1,842 experience left.

For 45 Defense:
2,000 - In Aid of the Myreque
5,000 - Between A Rock
12,000 - Olaf's Quest
Normally train the 3,825 experience left.

Prayer:
500 - Rag and Bone man (first part)
1,000 - Making History
1,000 - Recruitment Drive
1,125 - The Restless Ghost
1,406 - Priest in Peril
2,000 - Mountain Daughter
2,000 - Land of the Goblins
2,400 - Ghosts Ahoy
3,000 - Another Slice of H.A.M.
8,000 - Spirits of the Elid
10,000 - Swan Song
-------------------------------------------------
You will be 39 prayer with these quests. Now you can decide if you want 45 or 52.

For 45 Prayer:
Simply bury bones.

For 52 Prayer
7,000 - Rum Deal
You will need 40 Farming, 42 Slayer, and 47 Prayer.
So, if you plan on getting 52 prayer, be sure you do this quest at 47 prayer.
6,000 - The Great Brain Robbery
Bury bones for the remaining levels.

For 95 Prayer
:
You might as well complete all of the quests, including the fillers below.
Bury bones or play Soul Wars until you reach your desired level.

Fillers: quests that also give prayer experience.
1,500 - Fur 'n' Seek
5,000 - Rag and Bone Man (second part)
7,000 - Dealing with Scabaras
10,000 - The Temple of Senntisten

Since there are many quest combinations to receive 176 quest points for Barrow Gloves,
I have taken snapshots of my quest log.

4. I don't have money for 94 Magic.

Posted Image

A good way of making money while also getting magic exp is by making teleport tabs. I would really recommend to level your own construction level so you do not have to use another player's house. Some people are confused about how to use their Butler, so I made a video which can be found here:

Posted Image

Once you have reached 14m, buy as many High Alchs as you can. I would recommend buying Maple Longbows (u) because they use up as much money as Yew Longbows do and you are able to purchase a larger amount.

5. Where should I train Strength?

There are many different ways to train Strength. The methods I use are the inexpensive ways.
Since you're a Rune Pure, take advantage of the Dragon Battleaxe special.

Posted Image

Rock Crabs: level 13 - 50 Hitpoints
These do not require any quests at all to get to these. They can be found in and on the outter edge of Relleka and also on Waterbirth Island.

Posted Image

Experiments: level 25 - 100 Hitpoints
These require to either start or complete the quest, Creature of Fenkenstrein.

Posted Image

Yak: level 22 - 50 Hitpoints

As a Rune Pure, I would really recommend training on these. To get to them, you have to start Fremennik Isles. If they are really crowded, do not get too overwhelmed. They are quicker than Rock Crabs and Experiments put together.

6. Where should I train Ranged?

Once again, I only go for inexpensive ways to train.
For ranged, I would say to use the same Monsters as mentioned above for Strength.

Posted Image

Another good way to train ranged is by using Iron Arrows (or insert your favorite ammo here) and training on Pyrefiends in Soul Wars. Even if your team loses and you get atleast 10-14k exp, it still turns out to be better or equal to Yaks.

7. 'Must Get' Items.

Rune Defender: +5 Strength Bonus
Obtained as a reward from the Warrior's Guild.
In order to enter the Warrior's Guild, your Attack and Strength levels should add up to 130.

(the section of how to get the defender will soon come.)

Fighter Torso: +4 Strength Bonus
Obtained as a reward from the Barbarian Assault mini-game.

(the section of how to play each role is soon to come. I might make videos on how to do each role exclusively for this topic.)

Fire Cape: +4 Strength Bonus
Obtained as a reward from the Fight Caves.

(If 42+ Defense) Full Ranger Void: +10% Bonus to Accuracy and Damage
Obtained as a reward from Pest Control.
I would really recommend getting this set for Ranged, because it really does make a difference.

(If 45 Defense) Berserker Helm: +3 Strength Bonus
Must have completed the Fremennik Trials quest to wear.
Can be bought from the Grand Exchange or store.

8. Possible Quest Items.

If you followed my quest list from above, all of these should be unlocked for your use.
(this section of the guide is soon to come, sorry.)

question my f2p rune pure is 60 att 40 def 87 str (no dragon slayer tho). I plan on getting p2p soon and trying to max it. Is it still worth it since obviously my def is going be above 45 with all the quests? If I do all the quest you listed, should my def still be under 50?

I hate to tell you this, but I'd say start over. I'm not sure if you'll be over 50 defense, but there is a good chance you will or will be very close to 50.

I have two questions:
What's the point of Olaf's Quest?
When would getting 52 Prayer be beneficial?

The point of Olaf's Quest would be to have more QP, to be able to kill Brine Rats, and to just have it incase there is a new update. Whenever I got my defense, I did Defender of Varrock, soon after, Ancient Curse prayers came out and guess what? A requirement was Defender of Varrock.

I'd say once you're level 80+ cmb, get 52 pray, but of course quest the exp you can. (barrelchest anchor..)

Also, would you mind me asking this?

Stats are in sig. What would I bring to Fight Caves? In my previous trial, my gear was Rune Boots, Unholy Book, Ring of recoil, Proselyte Legs, Proselyte Helm, Black D'Hide Body, Adamant Bolts (1000), Rune Crossbow, and Accumulator. My inventory was: 6 Brews, 18 S Restores, 1 Ranging Potion, and 3 Tuna Potatoes. I made it to wave 47, running out of brews here, but I lasted till Wave 53 and died with 5 Restores left. Thanks if you can answer this question. If not, sorry for asking.

Train your ranged or use better bolts.

Yes, I used a Karil's Crossbow, cause my friend said it would work better than anything else. And you should probably just train Ranged a little more.

I have the same setup minus the Karil's CBow. Made it to wave 55 and died cuz of lag.
