I've heard that world population and the amount of people fishing in the area affect the speed you catch fishes, but is this true? If so then do world population and the amount of people fishing make it faster for me or worst?

I'm pretty sure world population only applies to mining rock respawn time. But I may be wrong. The only thing that effects fishing speed is your level in fishing as far as I know.

World population only applies to some monster spawns and rock spawns.
Higher population = Faster rock spawns for mining, vice versa for lower.
Fishing is unaffected by world population, just your fishing level. Some people argue between regular harpoon, the One you can wield, and the Clay Harpoon, but I'm pretty sure it all works the same.
And w/that I think someone needs to close this topic.
