As I train combat, I periodically become bored with it, so I decided I want a skill I can train for a couple of days and eventually get it close to 99.

Some things that would be great:
  • Make Money
  • Afk or Semi Afk Capibilities
  • Doesn't require a ton of Money
  • Not Slayer
  • Not Combat.

Please suggest away.

why not consider fishing and/or woodcutting? both become very profitable when you hit the higher levels, what with one being able to make a fortune off yews/magic logs, and the other with sharks - for instance.
they don't require your undivided attention, either, which is a nice thing. and hey, basically no money needs to be spent in the process of levelling one or the other, even both, up.

“People are continually pointing out to me the wretchedness of white people in order to console me for the wretchedness of blacks. But an itemized account of the American failure does not console me and it should not console anyone else. That hundreds of thousands of white people are living, in effect, no better than the "African Americans" is not a fact to be regarded with complacency. The social and moral bankruptcy suggested by this fact is of the bitterest, most terrifying kind.”

^^ exactly that.

Woodcutting/Fishing are easily more afkable now, considering combat randoms are removed.

and when you hit 90+ woodcutting, yews are still a better option in my opinion, if you want 99 with some profit.

Woodcutting or Fishing.
I mean, you can just chill, Woodcutting, you make money.

Fishing, you use Feathers, but Salmon and Trout do sell.
With that, if you wanna AFK it more, get 99 Cooking for the trim.

In all honesty, only you can answer this question.

If you take people's advise on this question, then your pretty much letting them choose your Runescape future.

Just think to yourself, which skill do you enjoy doing most, and do it.

Thieving is an amazingly fast skill to get 99 in.  At the higher levels, you're at least 200K experience an hour at pyramid plunder.  You won't be making money, but you'll probably get a Golden Sceptre sometime on the way, making you actually profit a tad on the way out.  It's not boring at all.  The games are fast-paced and totally unpredictable.

Note: You can't AFK.  You make little to no money, but you don't lose it.

However, since it's different than woodcutting and fishing (which I truly hate, and are tough skills to 99 because of their distracting afkability, in my opinion), I just wanted to bring it to your attention since you probably didn't consider it yet.  It's the funnest 99 to get.

I hope that this helped!  -_-

yeh i agree with this..

just pick a skill you enjoy doing and just stick with that.. you should also train farming with the skill you have chosen.

Woodcutting / Fishing might be what you're looking for (like other people have said) but you could try
different skills like Hunter.
It's very good for money making, and kinda fun too
Anyway, you could try all of them (Woodcutting, Fishing and Hunter) and that way you wont get bored as easy.

Hope i helped,

As suggested above, fishing and woodcutting. You can farm while you woodcut/fish, hence allowing you to train 2 skills at once. However, when you train a skill and do nothing but the skill, you get bored and lose concentration, so doing a mix of skills won't be a bad idea.
