But, i do see a flaw.

I'd take out the "until log out" option. Simply because people could lend it for (set amount) Then log out, and redo it over.

Other then that, nice job on the new pics.

Maybe they could set a limit on lending. Just like they do on buying/selling items. Like you can only lend out 1 item every 4 hours. Would stop people doing what you said. And i thought about this a while back and i think they really should implement it.

they need to return the item back right..?

What happens if..

1 - a noobs borrowed a full helm, then borrowed, a pl8, then borrowed a legs, then borrowed a scim, and a sheild
2 - he fought a goblin and died.
3 - he can't return back the item as he lost scim and helm..

And hes level 3, died to a goblin in iron armour.

even it is iron, it still an item.

If you die while using a borrowed item, it is returned to the owner.

Modifications:

You only need one offer screen [you can only borrow one item at a time], maybe two to borrow and lend.
Have the price to which you can offer to lend be your max trade.
When you go to borrow an item, it looks for the cheapest lend per hour.
Give an option to "Offer Max Amount" where it will take 100k per hour [max trade limit or so] and look for your lend.
Red Sky 13 - officially quit RS on June 17, 2010.

Jagex would only be able to assign lending prices to items on the GE.

If the lending prices were applied to items when they were loaned in regular trades there would be a major problem.

Either
A. People would not be able to lend items for free, which is the whole point of the lending system.
or
B. If people could either use the market price of the lending value or give for free, this would cause major problems as far as unbalanced trading goes.

Say I want to give my buddy 1000k. My buddy has a godsword. The value of the godsword lend for 24 hours is 100k.

He gives me the godsword for 24 hours for the 100k I give him.

I immediately return the godsword to him by using it on him.

He again lends me the godsword for another 24 hours for 100k.

I return it to him, and we repeat this until he's gotten his 1000k.

I see a flaw with that. You can only use an item on someone to return it to them if the lend time is "until log out". Otherwise they can't get it back until the time is up. Even if you discard it.

Good idea. I'm tired of gathering junk for lends. :-D

Most likely if Jagex made prices for lends, many players would think they were off the mark and thus still need to gather junk.

Basically what i was going to say. You wont get an ags lent to you for dirt cheap most of the time.

A flaw with that is that if you can max trade 30k per every 15 minutes, and you are lending a bronze dagger, no one will pay 30k to borrow a bronze dagger.

This would help those people who haven't done much quests to borrow Godswords which lend at 50-100k.

I like this idea the more I think about it. It'll remove the need to stand in banks or Pest Control asking to borrow something, and it'll be convenient and a small method of making money on the side.

However, this could quite possibly land a huge blow on the Grand Exchange prices. Once people stop buying things, borrowing items instead, prices will shoot to a record low, I think. And that's an extreme problem.
Okay, so you pronounce my name like this: "Rist'ay thur'teen.' It's not "Rist," "Riste," or "Rist'uh," and if you spell it "Wristle," you will meet a very, very painful death.

I completely would lower costs of training since per hour is cheaper than if you just bought the whole weapon!

You are right. It probably would lower prices dramatically. I never thought of this problem.

Would friends still be able to lend to friends for free? I know that after getting a 99 or a good achievement someone will set me borrow their phat/mask/etc... for an amount of time to make me feel good.... Would this then be over? Wasn't the whole reason of borrow for those who wants to help out friends and such in the first place? Just saying...

exquisite idea. I assume if you have a trade limit of 5k, you'll be able to lend a whip for 10k for 5 hours?

You would still be able to lend among your friends outside of the Gand Exchange database liek you can now.

Prices for lending would not exist outside of the Grand Exchange. That means if you and your friends want to lend/borrow with your selves but dont want to pay, you dont have to.

I think this would be a very good idea, but with some flaws. Jagex would have to put in trade limits on the items, that is a must. But here is where you have to make a choice. Does the price rise for better items? Could I borrow a rune scimitar for 1,000 gp while a partyhat goes for 100,000? If so, then you have the whole conundrum of Jagex setting prices based on what they think the item is worth. A more feasible solution is to have a standard fee for all items based per hour.

Not really, they could do a percentage value like 10% for lending

I will be updating the pictures soon so they are in HD.

I also plan on adding something else to my suggestion.

i enjoy this idea.
it would be very nice to put in yet they only flaw i can pick out is who sets the prices? like other people have also showed.
oh and i guess you could still lend in a trade too? so that way people who want to do it for junk or until log out.
other then that, great idea.

I rather like this idea...

So hard trying to find someone to lend out an item by saying, "Borrow <item name here> for <amount of Gp per hour here>!"

I'd love to see this incorporated into RS.

Maybe they could have someone on the outskirts of GE stand and when you talk to him he gives you the options to "lend an item" or "borrow an item" for a certain amount of gp.

Fantastic idea. I think it is definitely something Jagex should gear towards, but perhaps there may be some technical difficulties in trying to implement this into the game.

Terrible idea, this would lead to deflation in almost every item across RuneScape and it would just fall apart at the seams.
