 | Since I've set myself the goal of going for 20m mining experience, I figured I may as well get the golden mining suit for the bonus, especially after noticing so many people wearing it at the Living Rock Caverns. It took me around 850k mining experience at 35k exp/hour there to get the full suit including the gilded dragon pickaxe. I think that's a little above average but then again, I am a pretty unlucky person. I'm not sure if it was actually worth the time spending there, because I haven't noticed much of a difference in my exp/hour while mining gold, but then again it also looks pretty nice and I'm all for cosmetics.
I've also been continuing my boss hunting trips with a friend, and we both decided to go to DKs because we had so much fun during the clan event. We did FFA share so that we could use our ring of wealth and I easily made profit from the trip just from the hides and bones I banked. Along with that, we got quite a few drops - my memory is awful but I think we got two dragon hatchets, two seers rings and three warrior rings. It's a pity we didn't get any berserker rings since those are the most valuable drops, but it's persuaded us to come back some time, because unlike God Wars, even if you're incredibely unlucky you still manage to make a profit through the common drops at DKs. One thing I found a little funny though - while we were there I suddenly started lagging and I think my hitpoints got close to 50. My friend started getting really worried for me and began to use his saradomin brews on me thinking he could heal me the way you could in DG. I guess we're both pretty big DG nerds, but I'm grateful that he tried to save my life. |

As well as boss hunting, we had our first ever skill week in our clan and the skill was Agility. I had a goal of 14m agility experience which I managed to achieve pretty easily by training at the Advanced Gnome Course. I was actually dreading agility, but training with other clan members made it really fun. We would race laps together and have breaks every now and then to do herb runs together so it was an enjoyable experience. We also had an event at the Brimhaven Agility Arena which I havent been to in years, but again the competitive element of it was a great way to motivate everyone to get to the ticket dispenser first. I don't think I'll be winning the skill week since some people have managed to get close to 2M experience within the week, but I had a great time training the skill.

I also wanted to mention the recent graphical updates to the Grand Exchange and Edgeville. I've been really looking forward to these, because I always love graphical updates, and I thought the GE looked fantastic. It makes it so much easier for me when I'm entering the GE from the north to have a bank a few steps away. Plus I don't lag as much everytime I enter the GE because everyone is spread out throughout the four banks, whereas previously everyone was concentrated in the middle, making it much slower for me. I also thought that Edgeville looked great, and I'm eager to find out what lies behind that locked door. The reason I decided to mention this update is because I've noticed so many people complaining about it. I could understand if there was some reason behind their complaining but really it's just nostalgia. Some people seem to prefer the past, and when things start to change they will desperately cling to the old and refuse to let go. I've actually found it quite frustrating that after every single update people have something to moan about. Sure, Jagex aren't perfect and are bound to make mistakes, but why not give things a chance before automatically categorizing it as "the worst update ever." There have been a lot of brilliant updates in the past and it seems that people love to complain and refuse to appreciate the good things. It's much easier to moan about every single thing that Jagex releases and claim that the old updates were better than to take your time to compliment on something that has taken a lot of time and effort to produce and has improved the game for everyone. So.. yeah there's my rant. I'm getting very prone to them so I really should stop before I make myself an army of enemies, but the great thing about having a blog is that you can put out your own opinion and hear what other people have to say about it, hence making some great conversations.
Anyway, that's me done rambling. I am unsure if I will be posting another update soon because I am recieving my AS Results on Thursday (and dreading it!) plus I have an exam on Saturday (which I am also dreading). I will try to keep the thread updated though, and will continue to mine at LRC whenever I have the time so hopefully that 20m experience won't be too far away by the time the next blog entry appears.
I also wanted to give my thanks to everyone who voted for me in the Best Thread and Best Personality polls, because it was a lovely shock when I found out I'd won the Best Thread. Personally, I felt I'd been slacking with this thread and could be doing a lot more to make it look more appealing, but it's a really lovely feeling to know that there were people out there who read this thread and liked it enough to actually vote for it against all the other amazing nominations.

 | I'm going to start this blog off with a rant about DG. Most of you were probably hoping I'd never go back to discussing it on my blogs since I spent the past few months doing nothing but that. Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I was having a conversation with a few clan members about this and wanted to give my opinions on this thread. What's really been annoying me lately is people's attitude to DG. At least the ones I've come across. Their just so obsessed with time. I can understand that you want fast exp/hour, I'm sure anyone would say yes to that, but the way people treat others over it is pretty disgusting to be honest. People have become so obssessed with timing floors now that they refuse to give others the chance to learn simply because it'll cost them 3-4 minutes of a floor. We didn't all start out as experienced DGers the day we started. We all got here through practice, and refusing to give others the chance to learn how to do things like puzzles or fight a certain boss because you want to screenie a 15 minute floor so you can show it off to your mates is quite frankly selfish. I recently DG'd with a few good friends of mine, two of whom were pretty low level'd and didn't have a hood. I could instantly tell that one of my friends was getting very frustrated at the fact that we had to constantly clear emote and puzzle rooms for our non-hooded friends, and the fact that he had to wait a few minutes whilst we explained how to complete a ramokee and merc room.
As much as I love DGing, I've made a promise to myself only to DG with either friends or low levels. My reason for this is that unlike higher levels who only want high exp/hour and to complete the floor as quickily as possible, low levels (at least the ones I'm friends with) enjoy learning new methods of completing the floor, new tips and tricks and don't rage at you if a floor is "only" 35 minutes long. Anyway, that's my rant over, I apologise if you had to read through that waffle but I really wanted to get my opinion across. I'm not bashing anyone who enjoys doing 15-20 minute floors by the way, I just find it frustrating how some high levels treat those who are lower than them and are too concerned with their own experience. |
Ok.. so moving on! I have now completed my 20m firemaking goal, and it's amazing how quickly it flew by. I have a feeling that place is gonna get packed pretty quickly - while I was training the number of people there was slowly increasing day by day until eventually I had to hop worlds several times because it was impossible for me to find any roots to chop. So I'm glad I've gotten FM over with while the place was still a little empty.
My new goal now is to go for 20m mining exp. If you've read the goals section, you'll know that I'm also planning to smelt these ores for 20m smithing exp. My inital plan was to make adamant platebodies, but the cash in my bank is so low that it wasn't even an option anymore. Whilst chatting about my plans for this goal in my clans IRC, a friend suggested making gold bracelets from the bars for crafting exp. I'm a little unsure whether I'll carry this out, because I've recently come across another crafting method which involves using the supermake glass spell, and sounds like good exp/hour at a decent loss. I guess I'll try out both methods and see which one I prefer, but for now I want to make sure I don't get too carried away and just stick to mining.

I have also been boss hunting with a good friend of mine who convinced me to go. I've been talking about going for ages, but once the time comes, I always make excuses. My friend persuaded me that it would be a good laugh though, so we decided to try out arma and I'm glad I went because we ended up getting an armadyl chestplate drop. Whilst there, my friend and I were messing around a bit and I mentioned Helen and L ieven. Ok, so maybe I'm not in the same league as them but someday I want to be as pro as they are at boss hunting! Anyhow, after this successful trip I was feeling a little more adventerous so we went on a sara trip. Unfortunately we recieved no good drops but it was fun nevertheless (although towards the end I was beginning to feel dizzy after all that running round in circles.. it was worse than Agility). Today I hosted a DKs trip with my clan which was once again a lot of fun. I've never been to a DKs mass before, and have never used a cannon there but it was so much fun! The Kings died pretty quickly so it was quite relaxed, and although I didn't recieve any drops, a lot of the other clan members did, including 2 berserker rings, a seers ring, an archer ring, a warrior ring, a seercull bow and 2 dragon hatchets. I'm tempted to go tribrid with a friend sometime, because I've never done it before but after the clan event I've realised it's so much more fun than just solo maging.

That's about it for now. Hopefully the next blog entry won't be a long way away, although I do have some revision to do for the UKCAT. I plan to add another section to the thread for more information on my clan, and I am thinking about deleting the Videos section.. it seems pretty pointless and I don't think anyone even gives it more than a glance. Would love to hear some opinions on that, and of course my long DG rant which I hope didn't scare some of you away. Hope this blog wasn't too much of a hassle to read through!

Decided to put up a quick blog entry to make up for all those irregular updates I had earlier. Since achieving the completionist cape I have been doing a number of things. Firstly I managed to achieve 20m slayer exp, but the training itself was a bit of a shock. Having lived in Daemonheim for the past few months, it was a bit of a suprise to check the Grand Exchange and find that staff of lights were only 1.2m, whips were only 950k, dark bows were only 300k and dragon boots were only 175k! Slayer has always been my main method of making money, but now I'm a little lost. The one good thing that has come out of all these cheap items though is the fact that I can now turmoil all my tasks due to the cheapness of prayer potions. It's been so much fun completing tasks in half the time it would normally have taken me, and wearing the completionist cape means I've got the stats of both the fire cape and the ardourgne cape. After achieving 20m slayer exp, I decided that the best way for me to make cash now would be to RC. Once again, it seems I was wrong. Gone are the days where making double nats could make you upto 1m cash per hour. It seems that blood runes are still good cash however, so I've bought a ton of pure essence, and plan to make some profit (if not much). The only thing stopping me is abyss pking. A few people have already tried to PK me once, and although it does make RCing a bit more exciting, it's gotten a bit frustrating now. I guess I will stick to it as it's my only method of making cash at the moment. Plus, a couple of friends suggested that they'd come with me to protect me.<3

The rest of my time has been spent with the clan during events (such as a recent KBD event as is shown above) and in the clan citadal. The update certainly lived upto my expectations - everything looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see what higher tiers have to offer. I have yet to try out the battlefield but I'm looking forward to the fact that it's not just for combat. I also went to Herblore Habitat for the first time. A few of my friends have been nagging me for a while to check it out, but what really persuaded me to go was after a herb run with my friend. We were both comparing how may herbs we had recieved, and it was a bit of a suprise when he told me he had recieved 50 herbs just from one run. So I decided to get my own juju farming potions and also see what all this fuss was about. I managed to make myself a few potions but the thing that really stuck out at me was the new firemaking method. It's now possible to get 200k+ exp/hour without spending a single gp. It sounds too good to be true, but after camping there for a few hours I've decided that this will be my method for 20m firemaking exp (which is a bit of a relief because burning 33k maple logs isn't really my idea of fun).

Whilst slaying I also noticed someone with a royal cannon and immediately decided that I wanted one. I realise that it has absolutely no benefits but being able to show it off to others is a good enough reason for me. I've also made a new goal for myself to try out every new update on RS, so I wanted to check out the Artisan Workshop. Despite being a bit costly, making ceremonial swords is oddly enjoyable. Alright, so I did break a few swords when I first tried it out, but I've managed to get the hang of it now and have since then achieved the gold cannon. I just need 50% more respect to get the royal cannon, then I can go around and boast to others.
Lastly, I wanted to mention the BTS for August. This month looks like it's going to be packed full of updates, and actually good updates! I've always felt that Edgeville deserved a makeover, and after seeing what a fantastic job they did to Draynor, I'm sure I won't be dissapointed. The new rewards for various minigames also sounds like an incentive for me to go and check them out. The new spells to different patches from Livid Farm especially sounds exciting (and I realise that Livid Farm can be a little dull to play, but all you need is a full series of The Big Bang episodes to watch!<3). Overall, I'm looking forward to this month and I'm sure it won't disappoint.
26th July
 | So it's been a long time since I last added a blog entry, but I have continued to update the thread. The reason I didn't include any blogs was simply because I had nothing to say! All I was doing was Dungeoneering, and there really isn't much to say about that so I decided to wait until I had something to say - and believe me I've got a lot! Since the last update I managed to get both 120 Dungeoneering and the completionist cape. I got the last few dungeoneering levels with my clan, and at level 119 I destroyed the hex bow. Yep, you read that right. No, I'm not crazy. I've had the hex since level 111 and despite my initial excitement I've come to realise it's really not that good, and not worth a bind (for me anyway). Firstly, the lack of plate whilst having a hex bound really annoyed me - some people say that you really don't need a plate, and no you don't.. but it certainly makes things a whole lot easier! I realise that since I was so close to 120 DG I could have just waited then bound a plate, but unfortunately a platebody has negative range bonus so that wouldn't have worked well with the hex. Secondly, I really hate the way I have to switch weapons in every single room. The hex is limited in what it can kill - sure it's great on mages but on everything else? The primal 2h + t10 berserker are much better. Since I destroyed the hex, I've had so much more freedom on floors - I can actually enter a room without being killed in the first five seconds, and I'm able to run around opening skill doors and completing puzzles without having to worry about dying before the room is complete. I do realise that some people (in fact a lot of people) won't agree with me, but personally I'm having a lot more fun DGing without the hex. |

Once I'd gotten 120 DG (by using 4M tokens and getting on the top of the rune tracker list), I was aiming to get the completionist cape. I thought it would be pretty simple - just get the livid farm spells, complete the quests, unlock the music and you're done! How naive. I think unlocking the music tracks took the longest - there were so many minigames I had to play, so many miniquests to complete and so many new places to visit. To be quite honest though, I'm really glad I did it. It's made me realise how much I've limited myself whilst playing this game - my goals have always revolve around getting the next 99, training the next skill and getting the next cape. I rarely played any minigames or checked out any miniquests - as long as they didn't unlock any new training methods what did I care? Obtaining the completionist cape has made me realise how much I've missed out on. I had so much fun completing the "Buyers and Capers" miniquest, running through the Rogues Den (which I plan to complete someday) and meeting new people at the Shades of Mort'on minigame. A lot of people have been asking me what I'll be doing next, and my usual answer has been something along the lines of "DG/Castle Wars/Slayer." Now however, I'm going to try out some minigames including Mobilising Armies, Conquest and Trouble Brewing. I will also continue to DG - I'm not going for 200m exp, but I have a few low-level'd friends who I promised to help. A much better alternative compared to training on w117 I'd say.

I will also be DGing with my clan as I agreed to help some people get to 120, and if anyone is in need of a DG team, feel free to join our irc channel #skill_night. We're always looking for more people to complete floors with. I'd also like to add that if you need any bind to be made (such as a prom 2h or prom platebody) I would be happy to make it for you free of charge. Please don't pay someone 3M for a weapon (which I have seen people do countless times). Just PM me ingame and I will happily give up my time for you.
Now that I have achieved the completionist cape, hopefully my adventures will be a little more interesting and I will be able to make my blog entries more regular. On a side note, please forgive me for the banner - I wanted to add something that showed off the completionist cape, yet instead I think I've just made it worse!
