History

In 2005 a few friends of mine began playing RuneScape so I gave it a shot, and here I am... I was F2P for over one and a half years, in that time being part of two clans, the first being The Might Dragons (the low level version of TMRD). I quit TRD however because pk trips were at 2am in the morning for me seeing as I'm in Australia, so I moved on to Deadly Alliance, an Australian clan. This is where I met most of the people I know on RuneScape today. Somewhere around here I got six months of members at 105 combat. During that time I worked on only members stats - where I got my first 99, Thieving. Around here Deadly Alliance broke up for the final time (after closing/reopening multiple times being run under different past members). When members ended I played a bit less so I could concentrate mainly on my final year of school. When exams ended I was back to training F2P stats. After about thirteen months of being F2P after members had ended I finally got members once again in August 2008.

Latest Milestone - Completionist Cape

1st January
Over the last month I have been ticking off the requirements for my completionist cape. Everything was easy and straightforward enough, except for one song, "Victory is Mine", unlocked upon fighting a champion. Initially my champion's scroll hunt led me to the skeletons in the catacombs, but this was very boring as it required 100% concentration, and no rest for the fingers as they died fairly quickly. I switched to ghouls, which can be blocked with a tooth creature to turn a single combat area into multi combat for fast cannoning. I went through 30k cannonballs and finally got my scroll. Happy new year, dTwizy.

16th November
Wow, looks like I haven't posted in this thread since 99 dungeoneering! It has been a long time, but I achieved 120 dungeoneering last night. I probably would have gotten it on the weekend but I was a bit sick. The last 12m experience flew past in just a couple of days due to Jagex's 2x dungeoneering xp weekend. During the weekend I was also lucky enough to get a hexhunter bow. It was kind of funny, we had just finished a guardian door room and the keyer told everybody to group teleport to the next gd. He opened the door to the spikes room and everybody except me and him teleported before they saw the soulgazer inside. He told me to teleport with the rest but I raced through the spikes and killed it. He had a hexhunter himself so it was destined to be mine, and sure enough I swooped it up (and bound it before anybody tried to kick me - something I often thought people would try whenever I saw a soulgazer).

Although I have maxed total there's still some stuff to do before I touch the completionist cape; some quests, some songs and the dreaded livid farm (currently at ~450k produce points). The worst out of them all will be one song I need to unlock, for the reason that it is the song unlocked when you use a champions scroll, which is a very rare drop. I plan on killing the skeletons in the catacombs. If you have any better suggestions let me know.

26th June
I reached 99 dungeoneering today, but on a more important note that's 99 everything. I am loving the max cape, very stylish. I will continue dungeoneering to 120, I'm not sure how long this takes but if you are roughly the same level level me know, we can be dung partners :D

Posted Image#1 Thieving
Ahh my first 99, the big shamoz. When my friends heard I was going for a 99 they all laughed, they said it couldn't be achieved. I wanted something rare and considered hard. I was thinking about mining, but I was quite fresh to members and didn't want to waste my time on something that could have been done on a free world. I picked thieving, which at the time I thought was only obtainable by pickpocketing and stealing from stalls. I thieved from guards until level 55, then continued on knights until level 70. A friend of mine informed me of "Pyramid Plunder" which I was told was good from level 71, so I got the level and went on a plundering trip. At first I hated it, and only got a level or two before heading back to knights. I kept hearing more and more about Pyramid Plunder so I decided to give it another go, and never looked back. I was smashing through the levels quickly. I was going to get it one morning but being so close and it being my first 99, I decided I couldn't wait and gathered a small group for the level. Emotions ran high as I stole a gem from the stall and sparks flew - hazzar! I had my first 99!
Posted Image#2 Firemaking
So I now had a skillcape, but obviously wasn't quite done. I needed to trim it to remove the nooby look (ugh auto spelling corrector why did you just change nooby to nobody?). Anyway, before this point I didn't like to buy resources to level my stats, instead I liked to make everything myself even though it was slower - I was sort of poor back in the day. With members gone and on the verge of quitting I decided I would just throw my last remaining few mill into firemaking to trim my thieving cape. I burnt 140k maples or so, making numbers and letters with the logs in my inventory so my brain didn't melt into mush. An easy 99, but my god my fingers had seen better days.

The logs only cost around 5m, and while I was training I caught a few people drop trading in a popular spot beside Falador bank, earning back about 3m from the goodies I quickly nabbed muahahahahahaha!
Posted Image#3 Cooking
After firemaking, I came to the conclusion I didn't really care about spending money on resources - it was better than quitting. I wanted another easy 99 in free to play, the obvious choice was cooking. First I needed to make a few mill to buy the raw fish, which I think I got from mining. Oh well long stories aside, I spent a week or two at the Grand Exchange buying raw lobsters and selling the cooked product. Definitely the easiest 99 I've had and probably will have (I am on #14 right now as I am writing this).
Posted Image#4 Woodcutting
I used to be quite the woodcutting newbie. There were a lot of low levels I came across with higher woodcutting than myself. Initially my plans were to train it to 90 and be done with it, but this was around the time I pulled Killzone for the Playstation 2 out of my closet and decided to play again, and with a TV just across from my computer I could easily woodcut and pwn Helghast (Killzone enemies) simultaneously. I trained at the willow trees in Draynor Village, not much money, I know, but I just wanted the levels. Now, you might be asking "Killzone doesn't take that long to beat, were you really that fast?" and the answer is no, I just played a lot of it :P
Posted Image#5 Crafting
I had always been fond of crafting. When I first began Runescape, this was actually the last free to play skill I got around to levelling, and even though it was expensive, I always gained a few levels here and there when I had the chance. Cow hides were expensive, but I made my way to level 90 purely in free to play. During an unfortunate rune mining incident (I blame Andrew and his army of Revenants) I died and my thieving cape ended up in my inventory, so I was left unable to put it back on until I had members. I sent in some money and didn't think anything more about free skills. I remember it like it was yesterday, I was doing a Hellhounds task when a friend of mine told me he had figured out a method of crafting that earned money, and the experience wasn't half bad considering you could semi-afk it. Intrigued, I put a halt to slayer and bought myself some materials to make sapphire bracelets (and no, don't bother checking... you now lose money from this method :P). It was around here I made this beautiful goals and achievements topic you are reading right now. Anyway, I got 99, and it has remained one of my favourite and most worn capes to date.
Posted Image#6 Attack
So, with 99 crafting down it was back to slayer. A long time before this point I had predetermined the order I was to achieve my melee stats: attack for accuracy first, strength for power, and finally defence because slayer monsters don't exactly hit that high and who needs defence first anyway right? Well keep reading to see if this was the order I got them in. Well, because I was training slayer and not really caring too much about combat, 99 attack came without even trying, hazzar! I can now do a little spinning fire punch thingy in the air.
Posted Image#7 Fletching
University was starting to get quite busy around this time, and the maximum productivity kind of person that I am, I was always looking for ways to train while studying. Fletching was an obvious choice for my next skill to train. The first time I was a member I absolutely hated fletching (perhaps because fletch-x wasn't around huh). Anyway, now it was easy(er) and I had a cape in my sights, nothing could stop me.
Posted Image#8 Strength
Well well well. Strength was not fun. Most people probably recall strength as having the times of their lives in yellow gum drop forests, but unfortunate for me I didn't want to do pest control, I wanted to slay, and Saradomin swords were too expensive so I went for the dragon scimitar. I still have the same wretched weapon in my bank. The worst was probably the metal dragon tasks, there were level 90s whipping through tasks faster than me and my little scimitar. I was glad to be rid of it and back to the trusty whip.
Posted Image#9 Hitpoints
Not much to say here, it came and went, no planning necessary. Nice cape though.
Posted Image#10 Mage
I was always afraid I would never get to feel the power of ice cubes, let alone the magic cape itself. I despised alching, and using spells was too expensive. Luckily for me Soul Wars was released and I reaped the benefits quickly with that Soul Slayers clan. To mix it up a little, I also splash stunned in game with sacred clay helmets. I feel sorry for all the alchemists out there.
Posted Image#11 Range
As with magic, my range had been falling behind. It was in the mid 80s when all my other combat stats (excluding summoning) were high 90s. I tried ranging slayer, but it was too slow. After experimenting with a handful of training methods, I went to bandits and found it quite relaxing (not many people try to steal a world from a 133). I even used bone bolts - yeah I'm cheap, you can say it! With a full inventory of bunyip pouches levelling was easy, and I was free to study and train at the same time. I would check the window every few kills to pick up the ranarrs which ended up making me a fair amount of money per trip.
Posted Image#12 Defence
If you read my other ones (if not, shame on you!) you would know that defence was always intended to be my final melee stat levelled to 99, and it was. As with attack and strength, defence was also done through slayer, finally making me "maxed melee" :D
Posted Image#13 Prayer
With a lot of the 99s gone and dried up I was left with some of the harder ones now. I had never had over 50m in my entire time of playing, so the expensive 99s looked to be out of the question. I began runecrafting, level 91 making me a lot of cash. I decided to price check all my belongings to find that in total I had 90m worth or so. A few weeks earlier a friend of mine (quite rich) had gotten 99 prayer, and told me that I would never be able to get it because I was poor - well I decided to stick it in his face (oh yes!) and go for 99 prayer. A bit more runecrafting and 80 to 85 hunter got me the money for the dragon bones. This was the time dragon bones began coming up from 2000 coins each rapidly. Whenever I had money I would buy as many as I could. In fact, some people told me to wait until the prices came back down, well luckily I didn't take their advice (take a look at the prices now). Getting the money was the hard part for this 99, levelling took merely a week from 80 - boom, I can fly.
Posted Image#14 Construction
So, back to runecrafting, I made some more fast cash, about 60m worth perhaps when I got thinking about a very old friend of mine that got 99 construction back when it was 180m or so. I knew I had the cash, I just needed to be prepared to play stealing creation for a while in order to get the hammers to halve the price to 55m from 110m. So I played for a week or two no lifing at stealing creation to get 4400 points for 220 hammers. If you read my blog you probably know about this, but if you throw up easily you might want to skip to the next goals and achievements thread, otherwise read on. While on cloud nine, knowing I had completed the hardest part of 99 construction, I was brainlessly buying a full inventory of hammers. It was when I got to the end and started to morph them I realised I had just wasted 560 points on volatile when I was supposed to buy the morphic type. So wipe that vomit from your keyboard and know that I did earn them back that day, but it was a major setback - mainly for my self esteem and that mouse that went flying out the window. A week locked in my player owned house dungeon got me 99 construction, there was a house party and all. I even bought a steel dragon for my guests, and haven't been back since :|
Posted Image#15 Mining
Back when I began RuneScape, I always looked to mining for cash. I remember achieving level 2 mining at the Varrock south east mine. My original objective was to mine ores I would use to increase my smithing, which I did in free to play. When I hit 60 mining I superheated mithril bars then smithed them before alching the product. I trained it to 86 purely in free to play, I never thought about training it in members because it was a bit of a waste. With the introduction of the living rock cavern, I decided to get 90 mining on the gold ore, but as I was enjoying myself I went all the way to 99, making about 60m :D
Posted Image#16 Farming
When I first got members I couldn't stand farming. I could never get my head around why people trained it. As my skills progressed I trained it but only so it wouldn't fall behind. It was super slow but I discovered the nature amulet, which tells you when the crop it is bound to has fully grown or become diseased. I started to enjoy farming, but was still a little deterred because of the speed. At level 70 I began doing trees, but only to level 80 because it was costing me millions. When I began mining to 99 I started farming watermelons and herbs again. I did this every 90 minutes. I was only getting 15k experience per run, equating to 80k experience per day if I was lucky. Five months and 180,000 watermelons later I am a master of Farming. Most people just blow their whole bank to get 99, I am proud to say I've taken my time, and farmed the profitable way :)
Posted Image#17 Fishing
Back when I was a free player, fishing was one of my highest levels. I would fish trout/salmon and then bank it at edgeville, or sometimes drop it. After I got members for my first time however, fishing fell behind and I rarely trained it after getting 90. I would occasionally do monkfish, but they were slow, and if I wanted to do barbarian fishing I needed to pay a lot of attention. In the middle of 2010 I had two exams, and was looking for a way to train a skill and study at the same time. I considered rockfish in the living rock cavern, but previous attempts seemed very slow and not worth it. I went back and decided to track my experience for the hour. I ended up getting more than at monkfish, and a lot more money. There was also less banking so this was perfect. I continued on to 99. Before rockfish I could definitely say that fishing was one of my most hated skills, but now it has climbed the ranks into my heart :P
Posted Image#18 Smithing
I never considered myself as a smith. When I started RuneScape I saw this as probably the toughest skill to train. It was expensive to buy, and painfully slow if I wanted to get my own ores - which I ended up doing because of lack of funds. It was very painful getting to 50, which I stayed at for quite some time. I then discovered the mining guild, where I would take a fire staff and nature rune to superheat mithril bars, which I banked and then later made into the best mithril item I could, gradually working my way up to platebodies. I would make quite a bit of money, but it was still very slow. After 70 I also started buying bars for faster experience, but I was F2P so making money was slow and I couldn't afford many bars. I only reached 80 and didn't touch smithing for a long time after that. I got members and about 8 months later the Ardougne diary was released, which had 91 smithing as a requirement. My intentions were to get just 85 then stew my way to 91 but I gave up and just got level 90. A few 99s later I found out you could superheat and smelt gold simultaneously for great experience, without the need of collecting clay hammers. I continued this all the way to 99 (also with a hefty chunk of magic experience :D)
Posted Image#19 Herblore
Herblore being as expensive as it is was very tough for me to level when I became a member. I struggled just to get it to level 45 for the Legend's Quest by killing druids and using the herbs in potions, it was very slow. After legends it lingered around level 50 for ages. I poured a lot of money into getting it level 60 where again, it stayed for some time. This pattern followed for levels 70 and 80, getting them in 10 level chunks because it was just so damn expensive. It probably would have stayed 80 forever but with the release of extreme potions and super antifires I got level 85 to aid myself in slaying. Again I didn't plan getting it higher but then Jagex announced their first bonus experience weekend. I already had a lot of herbs saved up at the time from farming so bought the seconds, during this weekend I managed to get it to level 92. After making some more cash from slayer and fishing I got to level 96 for overloads. I really wanted 99 at this point so began collecting the materials I would need. I had enough for 99 and was about to start powering through the cash when Jagex announced another bonus experience weekend. I waited until then before I started levelling. When I reached 99 I still had a lot of supplies left over so I just used them anyway. I got to 15m Herblore experience. In total I would say I've spend around 300m on Herblore.
Posted Image#20 Runecrafting
Rune Mysteries was the first quest I ever completed on RuneScape. I was always interested in Runecrafting even though it took pretty damn long. Back when I was a nub magic was pretty expensive to train so I often turned to Runecrafting to make my runes. At level 52 I really wanted a santa hat (priced 20m at the time), with airs being 20 gp each I decided to make 1m airs myself. I did so, it took ages but left me with 74 Runecrafting. Not long after this I got members for the first time. I didn't want to train Runecrafting in members because it was a F2P skill and to me I saw this as wasting my members time. The 2nd time I got members I started training it through ZMI. I used ZMI from 74 to 91, then made quite a bit with double natures getting me to level 97. I left Runecrafting for a bit, but when I decided to get it to 99 natures were so cheap that graahking just wasn't worth it, so I used ZMI for the final two levels.
Posted Image#21 Hunter
I found Hunter very slow to begin with. At 43 it became a lot quicker with kebbits at the Falconry area. At 59 I did red salamanders. When I got to 63 I tried red chinchompas for a bit but it wasn't worth it with just 4 traps so went back to salamanders until level 80 when I could set 5 traps at a time. Red chinchompas were still pretty slow, I only hunted these until level 82 when I decided to buy some hunter potions so I could catch barehanded Sapphire butterflies. These were the hunting break I had been waiting for - they were fantastic experience and also gave agility experience at the same time. At 87 I could also hunt the Snowy butterflies in the same area (with the +3 from the potion of course). At level 95 I moved to Black Warlock butterflies where I continued on until I reached 99. I never really liked hunter too much, mainly because of the bots. The Black Warlocks are situated in the same place as red chinchompas where I encountered dozens of bots in every possible hunting spot you could imagine. The only thing that got me through was the high agility requirement for barehanded butterflies, which isn't appealing for bots (or many other people for that matter).
Posted Image#22 Slayer
Slayer has always been a favourite of mine. You might think because of this I would have had 99 a long time ago, but that's the thing, I was having too much fun and didn't want it to end :D When I began slayer I was 105 combat, so I took tasks from Vannaka in the Edgeville dungeon - the first task I ever had was Hill Giants. I moved to the fairy for a while, before trying a task from Duradel, which wasn't easy at my level so I went back to the fairy. At 120 combat I tried Duradel again, and with the Karamja gloves he seemed like the perfect master... until Kuradel came out. I made tons of money and maxed out combat mainly through slayer, it was also my only resource for charm gathering. I will still continue to slay whenever I get bored. I purposely skipped certain quests so I wasn't dealt the crappy tasks like Scarabites and Terror dogs. This is a cape I will thoroughly enjoy.
Posted Image#23 Agility
Agility was the skill I loved to have, but never loved to train. I think it was the first thing I trained when I bought members for the first time, because of it's affects on run energy. After I got it to 20 or so I was bored very quickly, and didn't touch it for another month or so when I needed it for quests, one of the main things which kept me training it. At 45 I collected 1000 tickets at the Brimhaven course, collecting got me to level 51 and using them boosted me to level 65 in one go :) It again laid dormant until I wanted 70 to keep up with the other skills I had at 70, here I discovered the Ape Atoll course, which I used until level 80. When agility armour came out it was the hottest new item, something I had to have (also because of it's negative weight effects, but mainly because it was hot), so I used the Dorgeshuun course for 85, and the advanced courses from then on. As much as I hated training it, I was actually beginning to enjoy it at the advanced Barbarian course around level 96, too bad I didn't have the same feelings for it at level 1 :(
Posted Image#24 Summoning
Summoning was released when my members had run out and I was a f2per. Eventually when I did get members again I didn't want to train summoning because I considered it to be a combat level cheat. I still collected all the charms I got through slayer, but I just kept the charm piles growing until I was a higher level and felt it was ok to train. The 'ok' threshold for me was when I hit 2000 total level. I powered through my charms, getting from 1-65 or so in a day. It wasn't until 68 summoning I realised just how useful summoning could be, with bunyips. From here I collected my charms using them when I had enough for a milestone level, either a level divisible by 10 or when a useful familiar was unlocked. When I reached 99 slayer (which had been my only source of charms) I was so close to 99 summoning, level 98 with 600k experience left. Before 99 slayer I never would have done anything else for charms, seeing as I would get them later anyway while slaying, but since I was 99 already I made an exception, and turned to barraging rock lobsters, which got me the remaining charms in just two trips. PS: I love my titan :D
Posted Image#25 Dungeoneering
When dungeoneering was first released I was pretty disappointed. It seemed much more like a minigame than a skill (I still think this). It was gruelling to level at the beginning, I soloed because everybody I teamed up with was a leecher/noob. Getting to level 50 was hard enough, and I stopped training it there for a long long time. Getting to level 65 or so was done purely through penguins, lamps and Tears of Guthix. On occasion I would try large dungeons as a break from other skills, but I NEVER enjoyed dungeoneering then as it as was painfully slow and I always had horrible teams. When all my other skills were 99, dungeoneering was left behind with a measly level 76. Obviously this was now priority #1, so I trained and trained. After 80 it was without a doubt getting better, and then again at 90 and 95. I began getting some pretty good teams and was meeting fun new people. It has probably become the fastest non-buyable skill I have come across. I can see that training past 99 will be fun, but remember, still a minigame :P

Yeah sapphire bracelets, making a tiny bit of profit too, although I got to 90 in F2P from hard leather bodies, so in the end I will still end up losing :-)

I might dump my 94 magic goal for now. I was going to alch these bracelets, but because they are selling in the GE I will just sell them, and alch stuff from another skill where what you make isn't easy to sell. Hopefully that way I wont have to overalch :-/
