------------------------------------------------------------------------

I. Introduction

I have made a guide about Dragon slaying, as a 'break' between my Skill guides.
I did my best to make it as detailed as possible, trying to list everything you should know about these Creatures.

Note that this guide is mainly for P2P, as there is only one dragon in F2P and it can be killed only once, because it is part of a quest.
The most important piece of equipment you'll need is the Anti Dragon Breath Shield, which you can get from the Duke of Lumbridge; he is located on the 1st floor of the Lumbridge Castle.
You get it from him for the first time when you're doing the Dragon Slayer Quest, and you can not advance in the quest without the shield.
From that point on, you can get the shield an unlimited amount of times, whenever you lose it. It can also be bought off other players.

Alternatively, you can drop your shield in front of the duke and talk to him to get another. Repeat this for a full inventory of shields.

The loot lists from the each Dragon is based on drops my friends and I recieved from them. I also used the Zybez Toolkit bestiary for some additional loot information.

Dragons are an excellent source of Prayer Xp; however, if you can't "paralyze monsters" yet, I strongly stuggest getting the required prayer level of 37 first.

If anything in the pics is 'blurred', it is due to privacy reasons.

Update 07/11: I made some more changes in the guide, because RSN is down, and all of my pics are uploaded there, and basically, some of the info is incorrect or outdated. I mostly changed the 'recommended equipment' section, the loots and added some more tips (Check the bottom part)

Update 01/08: So what did I change since the last time you read this guide, you may ask yourself. Well, one week before this unfortunate incident happened to RSC, I deleted the Dragon Slaying Guide that was still up at that moment, and sent it to Wolverine. He got my full permission to edit this guide, and so he did: he completely rephrased everything here, and it turned better than I even dared to expect. So a big THANK YOU goes to him; I'm hoping we can work together later!

II. The Dragonkind

In this section, I will list all of the Dragons in the game, and tell you everything I know about them..
The order is from the lowest level to the highest level.

- Baby Blue Dragon: This little Dragon is the weakest of all Dragonkind, as it is only a baby. Although you don't actually need it, taking the Anti Dragon Breath Shield with you is a very good idea, as they will do extra damage to you each round (from dragon breath) if you don't. I once accidently un-equiped my Anti Dragon Breath Shield when I had 7 hp left, no need to tell you what happened next.

HP: 38
Experience given: Around 120Xp.
Max. Hit: 6
Loot: Big Bones (100%)
Known Locations: Right now, they can only be found in the Members Dungeon, located just south of Taverley.
Recommend Equipment: Anti Dragon Breath Shield, an Axe, Dagger, Short Sword, Long Sword, Mace or Spear, and good armour.
Although they aren't as strong as their mother, you should still take Teleport runes or your Dragonstone amulet.
Take plenty of food, I'd recommend either Lobsters, Bass, Swordfish, Chocolate Bombs, Sharks or Ugthanki Kebabs. No need to take any Potions at all.
Suggested Stats:
Attack: Lvl 30+
Strength: Lvl 35-40+
Defense: Lvl 30+
Hitpoints: Lvl 30-40+
Prayer: Lvl 1-37+
Magic: Lvl 1+

Notes: Blue Dragons are situated very close to the Baby Blue Dragons so be careful not to get caught unprepared by a Blue Dragon you are ill equipped to deal with. See Blue Dragon notes for information on how to gain access to the Baby Blue Dragons.

- Blue Dragon(lvl-105): This is the 'mother Dragon' of the Baby Blue Dragons, it is over twice as strong. Don't go here without an Anti Dragon Breath Shield! You'll literally get toasted!
Posted Image
(Ps...Those stats are from a looong time ago  )

HP: 109
Experience Given: Around 230-250.
Max. Hit: 11
Loot: Around 10-200 Coins, Dragon Bones, Herbs, Rune Dagger (Not that uncommon) Adamantite Ore, Law Rune(s), Steel Battle Axe, Adamantite Large, Cooked Bass, Steel Legs, Nature Rune(s), Mithril Spears, Key Halves and gems, it's even rumoured that they drop Dragonstones!
Known Locations:At the same location as the Baby Blue Dragons in the Member's Dungeon, there is one in the basement of the Heroes Guild, and a few in the Ogre Shaman Cave by Yanille.
Recommended Equipment: Anti Dragon Breath Shield, Axe, Dagger, Short Sword, Long Sword, Mace or Spear, and at least addy armour.
Teleport Runes are highly recommended, as Blue Dragons can hit 11's, and it's a long way back if you're fighting them in the Members Dungeon or the Ogre Cave; You'll have to face several other high-leveled monsters before escape is possible. A Dragonstone Amulet will work just as well.
Once again for food, load up on Lobsters, Bass, Swordfish, Chocolate Bombs, Sharks or Ugthanki Kebabs. Also, if you will be using the Paralyze Monster prayer, take about 5 Prayer Potions, your Monk robes and a holy symbol. No other potions are really needed, unless you feel your stats need a boost.
Suggested Stats:
Attack: Lvl 45-50+
Strength: Lvl 55+
Defense: lvl 45-50+
Hitpoints: Lvl 47-52+
Prayer: Lvl 37+
Magic: Lvl 1+

Notes:

First, before you can fight the Blue Dragons in the Member's Dungeon, you'll need to obtain the Dusty Key.
This is held by a prisoner of the black knights, inside their fortress found within the Member's Dungeon. To obtain access to the prisoner, you must first kill the Level 51 Jailer who will drop cell keys. Use the cell keys on the door and talk to the prisoner (not the dwarves in the other cell). When you choose the correct option he will give you the Dusty Key. The entrance to the Blue Dragons is the door in the Lesser Demons section of the dungeon.

Second, to fight the Blue Dragon in the Heroes Guild, you must have finished the Heroes Quest (to gain entry to the Guild). Also note that since there is only one dragon here, it is almost always crowded.
Last point to note, to fight the Blue Dragons in the Ogre Shaman Cave, you must have advanced through the Watchtower quest to the point where you can enter the Cave. Once the Watchtower quest has been completed, you may no longer fight the dragons in the cave.

Extra note: Blue Dragons are a great source of Prayer Xp, as they are not that hard to kill and burying each Dragon Bone will give you 60 prayer Xp.

- Elvarg, the Green Dragon (lvl-110): This has got to be the most legendary Dragon just after the King Black Dragon. This is the only Dragon avaible for F2P'ers to kill. Unfortunately for F2P'ers, you can only kill him once.
Important Note: Do not visit Elvarg without an Anti Dragon Breath Shield! You will die a toasty deep fried death!

HP: 112
Max. Hit: 12
Experience Given: It is now confirmed that you get 20K Strength xp
and 20K Defense Xp (Thanks Century0!)
Loot: Nothing actually, he does drop Dragon Bones but you can't pick them up as you get teleported outside the chamber after you conquer him. After you have defeated him, you can buy and wear a Rune Plate, and you will have completed the quest. (Also, please note that completing the Dragon Slayer'sQuest is a pre-requisite for starting the Hero's Quest – this has been confirmed with Jagex).
Known Locations: Only one location, which is the Dragon Chamber on the Isle of Crandor.
Recommended Equipment: Same equipment as Blue Dragons, unless you have a lower level character and want to kill him, this being a character with stats around lvl 40.
So for all of these players, only take 3 items, not 4 because you can't use prayer and thus forget about protecting it. That's why I'd recommend a Rune long or Rune Battle axe, and in case you're P2P, a Dragon Sword will work out even better!
For armour, Rune Legs, Rune Chain/Adamantite Plate Mail, Adamantite/Rune Large Helmet and whatever Amulet you prefer. (For P2P, a Gnome Amulet of Protection would work well, as it adds an extra 13 armour).
For food, fill your entire inventory with Lobsters or better, only leave 1-3 Spaces open for potions. If you're F2P, only take 1 Strength Potion, for P2P take Strength, Attack and Defense Potions; or a Super Set for best results.
Teleport Runes are highly recommended, you'll need them badly if you run out of food. There is no escape without teleport runes unless you can get past all the Level 54 Skeletons AND Lesser Demons AND Level 36 Deadly Red Spiders.
Suggested stats:
Attack: Lvl 45 - 50+
Defense: Lvl 45 -50+
Strength: Lvl 50 - 60+
Hitpoints: Lvl 50+
Prayer: N/A!
Magic: N/A!

Notes:

You need to do the first, long part of the Dragon Slayer quest to fight this Dragon. I won't reveal the exact way of getting to Crandor, not only because it isn't allowed here, but mainly because I don't want to spoil it for those who are only interested in information about the dragon. When fighting him, do not forget you can't range/mage on the dragon, as he will hit double the damage you inflict. He will stop hitting you hard once you have 9 Hp or less, unless you're not wearing the Anti Dragon Breath Shield.

- Red Dragon (lvl-140):This is the least popular Dragon. The main reasons for this is that he is hard to reach (out in Level 40 Wilderness), and he drops really bad loot. Same old story: don't forget your Anti Dragon Breath Shield! It seems that the only purpose he serves - other than decoration - is guarding some Whiteberries, which are needed to make Super Defense Potions.

HP: 134
Experience Given: Around 450xp
Max. Hit: 14
Known Locations: The only known location of these Dragons is in Level 40 Wilderness, slightly south of the fence dividing P2P and F2P's worlds.
Loot: Dragon Bones (100%), Around 500 Coins, Rune Long Sword, Law Rune(s), Blood Rune(s), Mithril 2-handed Sword, Adamantite Plate Mail, Mithril Hatchet, Key Halves, Dragon Square Left Half.
Recommended Equipment: Unlike the other Dragons, I would recommend you not take more then 3 or 4 Valuables with you, as it is in Wilderness and other players that are 40 Levels higher can attack you there.
So, load up your Rune legs, Rune Plate Mail, Dragon Axe, Anti Dragon Breath Shield and any Amulet of your choice. Teleport runes are worthless since you can't teleport past Level 20 Wilderness.
Also, do NOT attempt to fight them without Prayer, they can suprise you by hitting several high numbers in a row.
Potions aren't needed, except for Prayer Potions (About 5). As per usual about 20 Lobsters or better will do as far as food goes.
Suggested stats:
Attack: Lvl 55-60+
Strength: Lvl 65+
Defense: Lvl 55-60+
Hitpoints: Lvl 60+
Prayer: Lvl 40+
Magic: Lvl 1+

Notes:

Pk'ers are rare here, but if they do come here, prepare to run, as you can't teleport your way out here. I'd run behind the Dragons, hoping they'll attack the Pk'er. I really can't say much about this Dragonkind, as they have terrible loot, and probably a waste of Prayer potions and food.

- Black Dragon (lvl-200): These are slightly more popular then the Red Dragons, but still they aren't easily reachable, although I know of people who train there for ages because of the fact there are plenty of fishers nearby, from which you can buy fish. (duh!)
Posted Image

HP: 171
Experience Given: Around 600Xp
Max. Hit: 21
Known Locations: At the end of the Members Dungeon, located south of Taverley and at the end of the Lava Maze in the Wilderness (Thanks Dodge2k1!)
Loot: Dragon Bones (100%), around 600 Coins, Herbs, Rune Kite, Air Runes, Rune Battle Axe, Mithril Battle Axe, Blood Rune(s), Mithril Hatchet, Rune Long Sword, Rune 2handed Sword, Dragon Medium Helmet, Rune Bar, Adamantite Plate Mail Body, Adamantite Bar, Law Rune(s), Fire Rune(s), Chocolate Cakes, Adamantite Spears, Rune Spears, Key Halves, Dragon Square Left Half,...
Recommended Equipment:As for all Dragons:... Anti Dragon Breath Shield, an Axe or Sword, and of course the very best armour you currently have.
Teleport Runes aren't as important as you'd think here, you can easily ask the players around you to sell some Runes. As for Potions - take at least 5 Prayer Potions with you, although this is not required as you can get them from other players.
The usual food, i.e. 20+ Lobsters, etc...
Of Course, do NOT forget the Anti Dragon Breath Shield!
Suggested Stats:
Attack: Lvl 60+
Defense: Lvl50-60+
Strength: Lvl70+
Hitpoints: Lvl 65+
Prayer: 40-45+
Magic: 1+

Notes: This is a very convenient place to get good loot, and you just have to go up the ladder and you'll end up on an island just across from Catherby.
There are people fishing everything there, so go ahead and buy some food with the money or any other loot you acquire from the Dragons. You can also buy Runes, weapons, armour and potions there....
This location makes the Black Dragons the second best Dragons to train on, after the Blue Dragons.

When you're training there, be sure to pick up all Dragon Bones. Whenever you are in the need of food or Prayer pots, just go up and ask the fishers there. They are more likely to trade for Dragon bones, as they are tremendous Prayer xp. Furthermore, if you need to retreat from a battle, run behind the rocks or the ladder. It won't be able to catch you there. Just keep in mind, though, that he will hit you twice if he gets to attack you first. You'll get hurt by its flames for the first time, and the damage will only be up to 6 or so. His 'normal' hit follows soon after.
Just like all other dragons - his breath won't hurt you when you attack him first.

West of the Dragons are Poison Spiders and Monks of Zamorak - both very dangerous foes, so stay away from them. Going north leads you to the Fire Obelisk. You can also hide behind it, in case a Dragon is chasing you.

In case you're at the Dragons in the Wilderniss: the bones or the rune rock will cover you, although Poison spiders are everywhere, not to mention the Greater Demons. In either case, never forget a Cure Poison potion.

King Black Dragon (lvl-245): Ah yes, the legendary King Black Dragons (KBD). They are the ultimate enemy you have in Runescape, they can hit up to 26, they have massive Hitpoints, good defense and you can't use prayer in your fight.... This enemy is a true challenge!
Posted Image

HP: 212
Experience Given: Around 750Xp
Max. Hit: 26
Known Locations: There is only one known location of these Creatures so far. Go to the Wilderness, go as far to the NorthWest as possible (F2P area, that is) and you'll notice a 'cage' with Lesser Demons in it, it is somewhat east of the Altar there. Go down the stair, past the Poison Spiders, pull the lever and voila, you're in the KBD room (Hurray!).
Note that you're NOT in the Wilderness anymore, so don't fear other players there.
Loot: These creatures may be the strongest monster alive, but the loot is also the best: Dragon Medium Helmet, Dragon Bones (100%), Around 2000 Coins, Rune Long Sword, Rune Square Shield, Adamantite Hatchet, Yew Log Certificates, Air runes, Fire runes, Blood runes, Adamantite Plate Mail, Rune Battle Axe, Dragonstone, Rune Bar, Ruby Amulet, Key Halves, Adamantite Spears, Rune Spears.
Recommended Equipment: Keep in mind that this Dragon can 3 hit many people (By hitting a max of 78 Damage) so don't take anything you can't afford to lose. Take your Anti Dragon Breath Shield, Dragon axe, Rune legs and Rune plate, Gnome Emerald Amulet Of Protection.
For food: Do not take anything unless it heals 16+ Damage, so sharks are your best bets. Pineapple pizzas and Ughtanki Kebabs are other choices.
For potions, do not bother taking Prayer Restore Potions, as he will drain your Prayer right away when you start fighting him. Instead, bring a Strength, Defense and Attack potion, you'll need it. Even better if you can take a whole superset! And... Do not forget a Poison cure Potion either....
Suggested Stats:
Attack: Lvl 65-70+
Strength: Lvl 77-85+
Defense: Lvl 65+
Hitpoints: Lvl 70+
Prayer: Lvl 40+
Magic: Lvl 1+

Notes:

-Do not attempt to Range or Mage the Dragon, he will hurt you badly as a result.
-Go in large groups, preferably with 3 or more. The more people you go with, the more KBD's you'll be able to finish off.
- About the Dragon Medium: It's very rare indeed, but that doesn't mean you have to buy one to get it. I killed approx. 30 KBD's, and already found a Drag Med there. It just requires some luck and/or patience.

III. Hints and Tips

-First of all, the most important tip is about Prayer. Not just that a high prayer level is highly recommended, but about saving it up.
I explained this before in my Prayer Guide, but here goes again:
When the monster strikes you, turn the prayer ON, when you strike the monster, turn it OFF. Repeat until death.

- Potions: Never forget Prayer Potions. Always take 5 - 7 with you, along with around 17 food units. If you use the strategy mentioned above, you'll last for a very long time. An attack potion may be helpful, although I'd only take combat-related potions to Elvarg and the KBD, as you have no other choice but to fight them bare-handed. In those cases, take one of each (Def, Att and Str)

- Dragon Bones: ALL Dragons drop them, and they give 60 Prayer xp each. I know this doesn't sound alot, but in the case of Blue Dragons, which are quite easy to kill, this really adds up. Apart from that, they sell for 2.5K+ each! You can cert them in Yanille.

- Conserve inventory space: Take monk robes (2), an amulet (1), ADB-shield (1), Dragon/Rune Axe/Sword (1), Prayer potions (5), Teleport Runes (2) and food (15-18). Additionally, you can use the open slots for more food, or just keep them free in case you get a good drop from the dragons quite soon.

- Never forget your Anti Dragon Breath Shield!! I realize I have mentioned this in every section, but I still forget it at times, and it's really frustrating to get all the way to the KBD, and then get toasted by him, because you forgot your shield. In case you skipped the introduction: you can get the shield from the Duke of Lumbridge. You can find him on the 1st floor of Lumbridge Castle. Should you lose the shield, you can simply get a new, free shield back from him. You can also buy them of other players.

- Get a friend to join you on your Dragon slaying trip! You will do fine with most Dragons if you have at least Level 37 Prayer, but the Green Dragon and KBD Drain your prayer, so you'll have to fight them head to head.
In the case of the Green Dragon, try to get one of your friends to escort you to the Dragon's Lair, past the Skeletons.
For the KBD... It's nigh impossible to beat him on your own unless you're lvl 95+
Even then, you'll have to be very lucky. The more friends, the more KBD's you will be able to kill, meaning more chance of getting a Dragon Med. Never go there alone! (unless you have a death wish...)

- Take the best avaible food you have access too! If you're not really rich, and you can't fish sharks, take the second best fish, for example Swordfish. But you'll last way longer with Sharks. (Obvious.)
Other options are: Chocolate Bombs, Ughtanki Kebabs, Manta Rays, Turtles and Curry. However, since you can't eat these at once, or it generally takes longer to eat them than a Shark, you should only take them to the KBD, so you can eat while your buddies are fighting the KBD. Curry can be used in all situations: it heals 19HP, too.
Do not attempt to go head on head with a Dragon with food that heals less then 12HP.

- Choose crowded server! Let's say you are fighting Black Dragons, you have a long trip to safety. If you're training alone, none of the monsters are occupied, meaning they can all attack you.
However, if you pick a crowded server, many, if not all of the monsters will be taken care of by other players.

- Important: concerning cannons. The cannons have always caused alot of confusion, espescially with Dragons. Right after their release, it was possible to kill ALL Dragons with them, wasting no food at all. You could just fire at them; they'd keep running, and never hurt you. Now, however, it's just the same as if you're ranging or maging it: he will hit you back every single time you fired at him. This can go up to 9. I can confirm this happens with all Dragons, although I have yet to see how long this goes on. They usually stop firing back at you once you're at 7 HP or so, but I'm not sure that's the case with the cannon.

I might update this guide later to add some pictures - just to prepare for a possible influx of new RS-C players. If Jagex finally comes around with their Classic update, of course.

It might take a few weeks so if you think anything else should be added/corrected, I'll get to it sometime.

Um, maybe a small warning about the trade scam at the KBD. Nothing else has to be added at all. If you need some help I could gather a few pictures if you need any if I happen to get membership again.
