__________________________________________________________________________
The purpose of this guide is to give people a way to easily find out the best methods to achieve 99 prayer, as well as the exact amount of materials needed, the cost, and rates of experience. All calculations were done using the
Zybez Skill Calculators.
__________________________________________________________________________
There are several key items needed for 99 prayer. The two most important things are Dragon bones and a Gilded alter. Dragon bones are a 100% drop from all dragons, excluding baby dragons. Click
here for the current Grand Exchange chart for Dragon bones. The Gilded alter can be built in the chapel of your POH at level 75 construction. It requires 4 Gold leaf, 2 Marble blocks, and 2 bolts of cloth. If you do not have 75 construction, it can be built by combining the +2 bonus of the tea made in your house, plus the invisible +3 bonus of the crystal saw. You will also need burners for burning Marentil. At 252 experience per Dragon bone when done correctly, you will need quite a few bones, as well as other items which are to be explained later. What follows are calculations of the exact amount of items needed from several levels.

I hope to update this section at least once a week with the current prices. The following is a list of links to the Grand Exchange charts of each item needed.
In order to find out how much prayer will cost you, simply multiply all of the values given above by the values given in section 2. Be prepared to spend a significant amount of money if you want to achieve 99.

5.0 – The method
Before you start there are several things to do. First, you must make sure that you have the proper alter in your house, and that your entrance portal is next to your chapel. You can see in the image below that it is but a few steps from my portal to my chapel. This will ensure maximum efficiency and speed.
|

|
You also should be sure to have a glory on the wall of your quest hall. This will act as your back-up for when you forget to take a new ring of duelling.
Also note that no weight reducing gear will be needed, as you will only be running a few steps at a time.

|
The first step is to get your inventory ready at the bank. The bank that we will be using is castle wars, as it is the fastest method. You will be using a ring of duelling to teleport back here after every trip. This is what your inventory should look like. You should also have your familiar filled with bones.
|
Break your home teleport tablet, and proceed to your chapel. Do not forget to light both burners. Failing to do so will result in you receiving a lowered amount of experience.
|

|

|
Now you must use your Dragon bones on the alter. Select "Offer all", and wait until your inventory is used up. Remove your extra bones from your beast of burden, and use those up as well.
Something cool was pointed out to me by Natmonster. If you click offer-x and enter a number like 99, you wont have to re-offer when you dump the bones from your beast of burden! This is not a bug; it was an update along with Runetek5
|
The last thing for you to do is to teleport back to castle wars, and do it all again!

Q: How will I know if my burners are out? I can barely see that smoke anyway!
» A: Firstly, unless you take a 3 minute break in between bones, you should never experience this. However, if you do, you will notice a change in the dialogue box. Instead of seeing "The gods are very pleased with your offering", you will see "The gods are pleased with your offering" if one burner is lit, and "The gods accept your offering" if none are lit.
Q: What do I do if I don't have the construction level required to build a gilded alter?
» A: All you need to do is go on the RSOF events board. Just look for a post advertising an open gilded alter, hop to that world, and start training. Note that you will not be able to use house tabs to get to that persons house. You also will not need dueling rings or marrentils for this method, but it is nice to give some money to the house owner to pay for marentils. The best way to train like this is to use weight reducing gear and run back and forth between the bank and the house portal in Yanille.
