An Editors Worst Nightmare...

Well, lately I have been trying to edit my 4th pk video. First thing that happened was that when I tried to open after effects it just got all white and an error message popped up (tried to open 100s of times and restart several times). Then I decided to do the whole thing in vegas 9.0 wich I used on my third pk vid but in the time between the vids my trial ran out so I had to register. Then when trying to register my keygen wont work and just says "Error patching". So I gave up on that after a while and tried to use vegas 7.0 which worked without any difficultys. Or did it? -.- When I was halfway through (5 mins edited footage) I started to render to check how all the clips (that I had edited so far)looked like. Everything went smoothely untill I had watched half ways and then suddenly one of my clips were wiercd. It had shadows underneath the characters everything in chat box + invent was 95% black the hits were black hp bars black. I tried watching the raw footage and it had nothing wrong with it. So I decided to remove the clip and try again but it happened once more. Then I decided to record my screen while playing the raw footage to create another file of it as this 1 seriously had something wierd about it. Then when I had done that everything was back to normal, edited 2 more minutes of footage then started rendering again. Same thing happened to half of the clips and a third of the clips were completely black.

I dont know if all of this is caused by a virus or if my vegas 7 is messed up aswell as everything else.... Please help and tell me if you have any ideas on how to fix the clips/After Effects/get keygen to work/ANYTHING...

I'M Getting This Error From Uni Library Comp

I'm getting this when I try to log onto RS via the University's library computers anyone know what it is or how I can go about fixing/ getting around it.

Quote

Error_game_js5connect - Unable to connect to update server.RuneScape was unable to connect to the update server. This is most likely caused by a firewall blocking the connection.

To resolve this:

If you have firewall or security software installed, they can often block RuneScape from accessing its servers. Please ensure that RuneScape/Java can connect to its servers on port 43594.
Note: Windows XP Service Pack 2 has built in firewall software. If, when loading RuneScape, this asks if you want to allow the connection, you need to say 'yes'.
If that doesn't help, then an external firewall may be causing the problem. Please ask your network adminstrator/ISP to open port 43594 for TCP traffic so that RuneScape and Java can run correctly.

I'm more a point and click kinda guy on computers so any help would be apperactied but can we keep it in simple terms plz.

Thanks

"Floating Point Overflow" - Vista Error.

I was working on a computer, and it gave me a LOT of strange errors. Dialogue boxes were crossed out, many missing DLL files upon startup, software related bluescreens, couldn't open certain files (INCLUDING .exe'S!) etc. Sys restore never worked, SFC never worked, so I talked the customer into just replacing the whole OS, backing up his data, formatting and starting over from scratch.

Sounds good, but after I backed up and installed the OS, (never put the data back into the computer yet, so completely fresh install,) I came across some other weird errors, after a completely fresh install. Spybot wasn't loading, (after 2 uninstalls/reinstalls, in separate directories,) every few minutes it would just lock up, locked up every time it went into a screensaver, and most annoying of all were dialogue boxes that just said "Floating Point Overflow." I'm thinking crappy vista disc, some files are buggy or bad RAM. I tested the RAM, (and replaced it with definitely working RAM for testing,) tested fine. Looked at the disc, some scratches - I grab a new one, another fresh install, exact same problems. I thought possibly bad optical drive, couldn't read some system files while installing, so I tried a new drive with yet another fresh install - same issues. Checked the motherboard, no visible damage (Blown capacitors, heat damage, etc). Tested the hard drive, tested fine. Tested the CPU, no problems. No hardware damage as far as I can tell.

I have tried looking up the "Floating Point Overflow" problem just to see if I can get something to send me in the right direction, but every time I look it up all I get are errors relating to C++, no OS based errors. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

PS: I have already tried updating him to SP1 and 2 - problems still exist in both service packs.
