-- Have a question about RuneScape Community (such as editing your profile, posting pictures, or what different ranks do)? Please read this guide first, and if your question isn't answered there, post it in here.
-- Have a question about ratings (the numbers to the left of your posts)? Please read this guide, then.
Below is a list of all of our rules
----------
Please follow these rules to ensure a more orderly community:
I. Common Courtesy
1) Read and follow the rule summaries and the rule stickies located at the top of each forum before posting. [Links to all our forum-specific rule stickies are found at the bottom of this announcement.]
2) Do not make more than one account on RSC. [If you do, the excess accounts will be deleted. Please private message (PM) an administrator (someone with a bold red or bold/italic red name on the online list) if you wish to change your name, though your request will be denied if the new name is offensive or resembling that of a well-known RuneScape player or RSC member.]
3) Do not swear or attempt to evade the filter.
4) Do not flame (insult, degrade, send discriminative comments to, or otherwise intentionally offend) other members or staff members, whether through posts or private messages.
5) Do not beg for free money or items.
6) Follow all of RuneScape's rules, such as, but not limited to, the ban on account sharing and the ban on the trading of RuneScape valuables for things unrelated to RuneScape. [Some of these are bannable offenses when admitted to on RSC or when RSC is used as a medium to break them, which is further explained in section IV.]
7) Respect all staff members' decisions, and follow the orders of forum leaders (CL's), global moderators, and admins. [If you disagree with a staff member's decision, you may peacefully and maturely argue with them or with someone of a higher rank, assuming that you have a means of backing up your claims.]
8) Do not publicly discuss the state of specific banned members (eg. asking why they're banned, demanding them to be unbanned, etc). It's best to PM a mod+ with any question concerning a banned member. [This rule is meant to prevent public riots involving uninformed members.]
9) Do not put harmful, offensive, filter-evading, obscene, or pornographic content in your avatar/signature and don't use a signature that is too large (see here for more detailed signature size information).
10) Do not change back your signature, avatar, member title, or any other profile field if it has been edited by a mod.
11) Do not encourage others to break any of the rules above or below.
II. Advertising
1) Clan advertisements must be posted in the Great Hall forum. For all clan advertisements posted on RuneScape Community, excluding those of our sponsors, you're required to have a clear and visible link to zybez.net/community on your forums.
2) Websites may be advertised in your signature, as long as the advertisement doesn't seem overly demanding (eg. "Leave this place and join my forum!") and it has a clear link back to zybez.net.
III. Mild Spamming
1) Make your posts meaningful, and do not post brief comments such as "lol," "nice," or "10/10."
2) Do not double-post (post twice in a row in the same topic). Instead, please edit your posts with updated content.
3) Do not post "Bump" or a meaningless post for the sole sake of raising a topic's position in the forum index. [If you wish to send your topic to the top of the forum's topic index, please use the "Bump this Topic" option located at the top-right of your topics, which bumps your topic up without any clutter from "bump" posts. You're allowed to do this to a certain topic no more than once every thirty minutes. Avoid excessive bumping!]
4) Unless it is your topic, do not post in topics that have titles beginning with "[Answered]." Those indicate answered questions, and if you need to inform the topic starter of anything else, you may send them a private message.
5) Do not post a new topic directed at a certain member. Use the private message system for all private conversations.
6) Do not abuse the topic/post-report feature by reporting posts that do not require moderating. [This is considered a form of spamming, and it will be dealt with as if it were topic spam.]
IV. Bannable Offenses
1) Repeatedly breaking any rule listed above or a rule mentioned in any rule sticky, despite warnings from staff members in PM or rating form (or violating a rule once in enough severity to cause damage).
2) Joining RSC seemingly just to cause mischief and break our rules. [We don't want to risk keeping a member who has shown no dedication to the Community and only a desire to harm it.]
3) Impersonating a famous RuneScape player, RuneScape moderator, or RuneScape Community staff member upon joining. [If you claim to be a well-known RuneScape player upon joining RSC, and if there are doubts, you'll be asked to prove your identity in-game.]
4) Threatening the security of the Community or any of our members.
5) Posting or PM'ing pornographic or obscene content.
6) Posting or PM'ing content or links to devices that can damage one's computer or endanger one's privacy or RuneScape/RSC account (such as, but not limited to, keyloggers and viruses).
7) Posting or PM'ing the same content in multiple forums or to multiple members without their consent. [If you have a legitimate reason to mass-PM people, please obtain a global moderator's or admin's permission beforehand.]
8) Using RuneScape Community as a means of intentionally scamming people.
9) Plagiarizing content in any form (graphics, artwork, guides, stories, etc.) from either another member or from elsewhere and then posting/flashing it on RSC. [A ban will only be dealt if the staff is positive that the accused is indeed a plagiarist.]
10) Using another account after being banned. [The admins are the only ones who can decide whether you deserve to stay banned, not you.]
11) Registering more than one account on the forum.
12) Admitting to the sharing of RuneScape accounts. [There are exceptions to this rule that would merit a stern warning/suspension over a ban when broken, but don't risk it.]
13) Admitting to selling/trading/buying RuneScape accounts or valuables with real money, or using RSC as a marketplace for this.
14) Admitting to autoing RuneScape characters. [Punishments for this may be lighter depending on the severity of the case, but again, don't risk it.]
V. Signature/Avatar Limits
1) Signature images as a group must be no larger than 500x150 pixels and have a file size no larger than 150KB (153,600 bytes).
2) Signatures must, as a whole (text and images) be no longer than your average post. [try to keep it under 200px high.]
3) Avatars must be 75 x 75 pixels or smaller and have a file size no larger than 90KB (92,160 bytes).
4) Both signatures and avatars must be suitable for all users. [No obscene, eye-stressing, or offensive content.]
5) Zybez and Swiftswitch Staff may use their respective banners, which do not count towards the image limit.
* Advertising, as mentioned in Section II, is defined as posting a link to a site/forum that is not affiliated with RSC for no purpose other than to reward the poster or to benefit the linked-to site/forum in some way. Posting an external link with a clear purpose other than the aforementioned two -- such as supporting an argument, informing the public of something, or offering some sort of entertainment on a site that is not maintained by the poster -- doesn't count as advertising.
* Punishments for violations listed in sections I, II, and III vary on the board the violation occurred in (which are usually specified in the board's rules sticky, linked to below) and the violator's past offenses. When broken once, these merit a PM warning or a rating deduction and suspension.
* All cases listed in section IV are things that one would be banned for after doing only once, in most cases.
* Failure to comply with section V will result in the immediate removal of all content in the said avatar and/or signatures, and depending on the violation and severity could result in a warning or ban.The basic suspension times for each rating are as follow, though longer suspension times may be given for more severe cases:-1 rating --> 3-day suspension-2 rating --> 1-week suspension-3 rating --> 2-week suspension-4 rating --> 3-week suspension-5 rating --> Permanent banPlease note that this cannot cover every possible offense, but it should cover most of them. As for anything else, use your common sense; it's a valuable asset. Also, this list is dynamic, and it can be changed without notice.
If you come across any post, topic or member who is breaking any of the above rules, please help out the moderating team by reporting it using our report system - Simply click the report version under the relevant post (picture). Some things to consider when reporting:
1) Please be as descriptive about the rule broken as is needed when sending in reports.
2) If you want to report a user (e.g. for an oversized signature), report any one of their posts.
3) If many replies to a topic are against the rules (e.g. a clan thread full of flaming), just report one of the posts and mention the others in the description.
4) BBcode does not work in reports.
Thanks for reading!
